  1. You can blame whoever you want. Maybe the analytics people and coaches who are apparently telling the hitters to work on their launch angle and not worry about K's. Regardless of who you blame, the game has changed fairly radically in some ways. And unfortunately those ways are not good for the fans.
  2. Kershaw vs. Greinke - a classic pitching matchup.
  3. And Kluber was coming off the no-hitter.
  4. And there were other people who said the Red Sox were lowballing him with the $300 mill offer. People have some widely diverging opinions.
  5. As an accountant, I buy into the deferred money factor.
  6. Me as well. Under normal circumstances, the deal he signed with the Dodgers was a team-friendly one, when you factor in the deferred money and the 25.55 million AAV.
  7. It was only $6 million saved for 2020 because of the pro-rating. Sorry, but bean-counters gonna bean-count.
  8. Which shaved a little fraction off the team's massive financial losses from the pandemic. Not much of a cause for celebration.
  9. I don't think you'll ever hear Mookie say that even if it's true. He's got too much savvy and class to do that. He knows no good would come of it.
  10. It's a nasty little feature of the forum software that when you screw up starting a thread you can't just delete it.
  11. It also turned out that the same pandemic that turned it into a 60 game season may have heavily influenced Mookie's decision to take the Dodgers' offer.
  12. Red Sox fans and media are a tough bunch. They have very little tolerance for underperformance, whether it's injury-related or just a slump. Maybe that's something Mookie was thinking about when he resisted signing the big deal with the Sox.
  13. The Rays are a biblical pestilence.
  14. Our new head of ops is a pitching savant, though.
  15. So obviously you think Judge should be leading off for the Yankees.
  16. That's a hefty BAbip in May! Looks like April should be .246, though.
  17. His K/BB and FIP are both good. I'm starting to wonder if some of these peripherals should be chucked out the window, though...
  18. Yeah, it's quite possible we're chasing a second wild card spot. Which I would take.
  19. He might be simply suffering the effects of fatigue that we were all warned about.
  20. Mookie missed Saturday's game for a scheduled rest day, and yesterday's game due to shoulder soreness. That makes 3 different injury issues he's had already this season.
  21. Cora explained his reasons. Not that it will change anyone's mind.
  22. None for a long time though. The last Canadian team to win the Cup was Montreal in 1993. That's crazy.
  23. Beni's current numbers are thoroughly mediocre.
  24. Very impressive. Now I must point out that in 2009, Tom Watson only needed a par on the last hole to win The Open, at age 59.
