  1. Fair enough.
  2. Honestly moon, it will be a minority of Red Sox fans who won't like this.
  3. We also heard Theo Inepstein, Benny the Boob and Desperate Dave. A lot of fans are miserable pricks who enjoy dumping on other people.
  4. I guess it's time to put together a list of 2023 free agents.
  5. moon was talking about STORK, so I'm not sure how that was starting anything with you. Yes, it's very interesting indeed.
  6. That's your second response to the same post. It's almost like you're trying to start something.
  7. I think part of it might be PR, honestly. They have enough flak coming their way already.
  8. I think Beni probably is about average. I think he just lost some foot speed a few years ago when he tried to bulk up for power.
  9. I think he has his own personal baseball trade rumors and analysis site - STORK DROPPINGS.com.
  10. And JBJ, sadly, is simply a goner at the plate, there's no getting around it any more.
  11. Bogey has already been directly informed that he won't be traded. One thing you're leaving out of the equation is that the Red Sox will have a lot of money available for new acquisitions, should JH choose to spend it. And another last place finish, plus falling attendance, just might motivate him in that direction.
  12. Guess what, I think I'm about ready to let Refsnyder start in RF instead of JBJ every day.
  13. So your theory is that he's gotten cheap.
  14. Like I say, STORK just spews stuff and doesn't let the facts get in the way.
  15. You're right about the UZR/150 and I won't even try to understand how that relates to his overall dWAR. But in the final value summary at the bottom of the page, he has a negative defensive value every year but 2018.
  16. OK, you're one of the subscribers to the "other irons in the fire" theory. To me it doesn't make sense because like I said, all Henry really has to do for the team is say "here's the budget", "yes, I will sign that contract" or "no, I will not". It shouldn't really take up much of his time.
  17. I think JH has proven two things over and over and over: 1) He's willing to have one of the top payrolls in baseball year-in year-out and to give out big contracts. 2) He has limits. He's not willing to have the top payroll in baseball year-in year-out or to pay a lot of luxury tax. You say he can afford to purchase anything he wants. Okay, great - so why doesn't he? Why didn't he just give Mookie whatever he wanted? Why hasn't he already signed Bogey and Devers to extensions?
  18. We orginally thought Sale would be on the team for Opening Day.
  19. I'm not trying to beat DD to death. I have generally defended him. Just saying that he was the GM for the negotiations with Betts. Personally I think not keeping Betts is all on Henry. He drew a line financially.
  20. Wacha and Hill were lottery tickets, no question. I think Bloom was counting on Sale, Eovaldi, Pivetta, maybe Whitlock, maybe some of the young guys like Crawford and Winckowski, Paxton late in the year etc.
  21. Well, some people sure make it sound that way.
  22. It hasn't been a strict platoon, no. Ref plays about half the time against righties. And I'll bet Cora has his reasons every time he does.
  23. I did not know that. I thought Henry is the one who takes heat for not spending enough and Bloom is the one who takes heat for making bad moves.
  24. It's like talking to a brick wall. And he still won't say who his team is. That's spineless.
  25. If anyone is to blame for not keeping Betts, it's Henry and/or Dombrowski. Why didn't Dave sign him to an extension when he was here? Bloom is just the one who was given the dirty work of trading Mookie.
