The Mets are being reimbursed for Diaz's 2023 salary. It's part of the rules surrounding the WBC. But nobody seems to know if that will remove him from the payroll for luxury tax purposes.

I get that, but injuries like the one to Diaz are the elephant in the room.

It's a drag because you can see how passionate the non-US/Canada teams are about it.

It's unfortunate, but I think a vast number of baseball fans, including myself, do not really support this event, because it can have negative results for our major league teams, such as we saw with the season-ending injury to Diaz. Freeman also sustained an injury, not sure how serious that one is. Great to see Yoshida raking though. Looking forward to watching him this year.

He has a 6.33 CERA with the Red Sox. I'd like to see some improvement in that before I get too excited.

All I'm saying is he can't really be considered the "ace" at this point, so it's not a big deal he's not pitching the first game. We overthink this crap too much anyway. Cora thought it would be a good idea to do it this way. That's really all that counts. We just argue about it to give ourselves something to do.
