  1. It's quite likely the Brewers are very willing to deal Burnes, for a hefty prospect package. But are the Sox willing to do that and follow up with a big extension to Burnes? I'm a skeptic these days so I'm thinking no...
  2. More likely, let the Yankees have him...
  3. If the failed talks with the Mariners are any indication, there's a good chance the Sox find it's not the best time for them to swing a big trade for a pitcher either.
  4. Which would be ridiculous. Especially if you have to give opt outs too.
  5. He's going to get a ton of money, obviously a lot more than originally projected. Now he can pick the place he really wants to play.
  6. If they miss out on Moto and Monty, why not just punt 2024? It would probably be the smartest thing.
  7. Cohen is going to spend them into a winner. Plus I think they've been building up their farm. At least they have the aura of really f'king trying, unlike the Sox.
  8. I think the Sox snoozed hard on Gray. $75 million for the guy who had the best FIP in baseball last year. Let's face it, we have a totally dysfunctional management team. And the only real difference between Breslow and Bloom is probably that Craig played baseball.
  9. Giolito has averaged 1.4 fWAR the last 2 seasons. That stinks!
  10. Yeah, good one.
  11. I don't see how the Sox have a single advantage in the Moto sweepstakes. If the guy wants to be on a winner, the Sox are coming off back to back 78 win seasons, fired their CBO, and have done nothing yet this offseason. Moto's management team will be well aware of the Sox apparent front office dysfunction. "They just have to outbid everybody else." How do you outbid a guy who's worth 20 billion and wants his team desperately to win? We're getting Shammed, folks. Let's hope Montgomery is still available after this dog and pony show is over.
  12. Call me crazy, but I think even if the Mets hadn't done that it would be hard to outbid Cohen. What happens if the bidding for Moto gets so high that it's a guaranteed insanely risky overpay?
  13. I will defer to your Mariners expertise on this.
  14. I can't see Seattle trading Castillo. That was a big trade they made for him, he signed a reasonable contract, and he had another solid season. He's been consistent and durable. If that isn't a guy you keep, you're probably in tank mode.
  15. I think I'd rather have Castillo.
  16. And there's a Slow Breeze from the Crag.
  17. The Nation is restless...they think they just might be getting Shammed again.
  18. Why would they be shopping Castillo?
  19. What strategy?
  20. Sox talked to Mariners about a trade for one of their pitchers, but Mariners weren't interested. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2023/12/red-sox-trade-rumors-mariners-starting-pitchers.html
  21. John Henry changes his mind on a regular basis.
  22. Check out some of the conditions and clauses in Ohtani's contract. This is some new stuff. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2023/12/shohei-ohtani-dodgers-contract-opt-out-specifici-change-dodger-personnel.html
  23. So you think Giants ownership is making stuff up to cover up the fact their offer to Ohtani wasn't really as much as the Dodgers?
  24. Buster Posey's take on why SF is having a hard time signing the big free agents: https://nypost.com/2023/12/13/sports/san-francisco-crime-drugs-hurt-giants-ohtani-pursuit-buster-posey/
  25. They were in on Judge as well, right?
