  1. I simply have a suspicion that part of the reason the O's new owners pushed this trade was that they will try to extend him. I don't think that's totally off the wall.
  2. Well, this time at least we added a smart guy instead of another stupid one. Also, Theo worked closely with Breslow with the Cubs. They already have a good relationship. That can't hurt.
  3. Not really. He's bombastic. If Burnes likes Baltimore and they make him an offer he likes, Boras will just be the guy doing the paperwork.
  4. He also said Blake Snell should get 9 years and 270 million. He's not always a fountain of solid information.
  5. That and sign a damn starting pitcher, and we're back in the mix.
  6. +1 The only really bad troll we've had here the last few years was Yankee fan "JDavis76" who started out as "Babe" on the Boston.com board.
  7. The other thing is we have to see how much loot fellow Boras clients Snell and Montgomery end up getting...
  8. Do you think this trade would even have happened without them coming on board? The new guys are loaded, the rest will sort itself out. I like my dramatic narrative and I'm running with it for now...
  9. Unless he gets blown away. The new owners might be all in on a hefty extension offer and had it in mind when they did this.
  10. The consensus seems to be that the O's did well on the deal. That's not the same as saying they gave up very little, of course.
  11. It might not do a thing for the 2024 team, but it does qualify as good news for a change.
  12. Nah, that never happens. When we traded Mookie we all knew he was going to free agency...
  13. https://www.sportico.com/personalities/executives/2024/theo-epstein-returns-to-fenway-1234765152/ Interesting development.
  14. Breslow, Bailey and the other new gurus are going to teach our pitchers to throw so hard that reliance on defense will be minimized.
  15. They had the perfect chance to do the enema and they passed it up.
  16. Both would be even more fun.
  17. I agree, what Henry needs is to be totally humiliated to the point that even he can't stand it.
  18. Maybe the "Fenway Experience" will eventually include "free" entertainment programming that fans can watch on their cell phones if they're tired of watching the un-entertaining team on the field.
  19. And like I said in the other thread, maybe the O's will also sign Monty or Snell now. What a kick in the head that would be to the stunned bunnies that make up our front office.
  20. I don't see how the 10%/5 runs thing does anything for your argument. You'd have to look at the details of why it was a save.
  21. I think moon and I did this to death already. I think I sort of got him to concede it wasn't a major overpay at the time.
  22. What would really be hilarious now is if the O's also sign Snell or Monty. Our humiliation would be almost complete then.
  23. Only thing is, the current version of the 2024 Sox looks to have an excellent chance of being even worse than the 2022-2023 teams. The plan might shift to "Fire sale and tank!" before our eyes.
