  1. And I have this weird feeling that nothing big is going to happen.
  2. Nothing to fight about - yeah right!
  3. I don't disagree with your point, but I would take it in a slightly different direction in that these rumors really raise the specter of serious payroll-cutting for the sake of payroll-cutting. Yoshida is not an "expiring contract" like the "fire sale candidates" of the last two years were. Trading him with 4 years left on his contract would be a whole different deal. I'm just so suspicious right now that I can't help wondering which moves are to improve the team and which are to improve the bottom line.
  4. Replace Beeks with Zack Littell and Jake Diekman. Both put up good numbers with TB this year. We hardly gave Littell a look, of course. This isn't about development but MLB coaching and analytics, I guess. Same with Brasier, who got much better with LAD when they got him to try a cutter.
  5. But ever other metric you can think of destroys him, value-wise.
  6. Poor Chaim. He was a bit of a Hapless Harry when it came to building the big team.
  7. Wow, that is not a rosy projection on Story's value. Sure it's right? Seems a bit low, frankly.
  8. I've already said too much about that signing LOL
  9. Man, if they trade both Story and Yoshida it would be f'king hilarious.
  10. We've become conditioned to expect to be disappointed. I'm hopeful something happens but I'll be far from shocked if it doesn't.
  11. They are getting really good at this lowering the bar thing.
  12. Is that "wondering" as in "something"?
  13. Bloom was supposed to do that, wasn't he?
  14. He hasn't traded any prospects of note yet, though.
  15. If that comes off I'll feel much better. I have no doubt that Brez is exploring all the options. What I'm afraid of is that they're going to decide that the prices are too high in money and/or prospects.
  16. Yes, "more ground to make up". We finished 23 games behind Baltimore, 21 behind the Rays, and 11 behind the Jays. The team we finished closest to is the one that looks to be getting better. We should have no problem duplicating those results.
  17. I'm so desperate for encouraging news or rumors that I've been checking out the SOSH forum. They seem to think the Sox are a good bet to sign Imanaga.
  18. My arguments are all based on how bad our rotation still looks. We all agreed that the rotation was our weakness and needed desperately to be upgraded. If they do nothing else they will have effectively downgraded it by swapping Sale for Giolito. To me that's f'king bizarre. I'm not looking at this trade in isolation. In isolation it looks like it could be a good move. But in the context of our s***** rotation, I'm not so sure. Lots of time left to get that starter we need. Zero faith on my part because I honestly don't know what these guys are thinking any more.
  19. Yes, it's a ridiculous image. I was going for that.
  20. This is my problem exactly, Hitch - the reasoning is based on us not really being in on 2024 anyway. Let's just embrace a third straight sub-.500 season and raise our glasses to the future. I'm really noticing that this ownership has succeeded to a certain degree in lowering people's expectations.
  21. Much, much better.
