  1. It is indeed an incontrovertible fact.
  2. I'd care just as much if you guys were talking about Woody Guthrie and George Hamilton...
  3. That's right. When Mookie said 'go talk to Bloom' it clearly implied there were further negotiations after Bloom took over - which would also help explain why they waited until February to trade him. Mookie opened multiple cans of worms, and Sox media somehow snoozed on all of it.
  4. Hey, that's my line. I do find it amazing there was no followup on that by Sox media.
  5. Syntax issue I think.
  6. They did the identical thing with Bogaerts, if the reports are accurate. The only difference was they fell $20 million short on Lester, and $118 million short on Bogaerts.
  7. But it doesn't really make sense that he'd be disinterested in an asset worth $5 billion.
  8. Henry likes showing he's a tough guy sometimes.
  9. Absolutely. When there are so many possibilities and so little information, we all get to make our own guesses. We just have to admit they could be totally wrong.
  10. Yamamoto had to be signed by a deadline. Maybe the Dodgers let Mookie get settled in for a while and be impressed by the place and the organization before they came to him with an offer. There are a plethora of possibilities.
  11. The issue is and was Lowball Johnny.
  12. Houston has been the model franchise over the last decade, aside from the tanking and the cheating perhaps.
  13. Agreed, but my inner pessimist sees Giolito bombing, Sale doing well, and the Sox winning 75 games. And in that scenario Crag will take a beating just like Bloom.
  14. Yes, that could be a pretty good trade.
  15. And the smart money continues to be on the Sox doing absolutely nothing...
  16. Now let's see how Cragsy does. I'm not excited by any of his moves just yet. And it sure seems like someone has the budget clampers on him.
  17. The parallels between Ben's 4 years and Bloom's 4 years are striking, sir.
  18. I'm cynical as hell myself. But I firmly believe the mandate to trade Betts came from Bloom's bosses. That's been further confirmed by the reports that Dombrowski was engaged in talks with the Dodgers about a trade for Betts at the 2019 deadline. I highly doubt that was all Dave's idea.
  19. Yes, he was handed a mess. 2020 was a writeoff and 2021 was a pleasant surprise. 2022 and 2023 were the make or break years for Chaim.
  20. Feb. 7, the Fearsome Foursome is still out there, and MLBTR is still mostly a snooze.
  21. Frankly I think Breslow has already explored this stuff and found out he wasn't getting much without giving up one of the big three. And that's why nothing has happened.
  22. Who knows. There was a time we thought things were going to break loose after Yamamoto signed.
  23. I like playing devil's advocate, I must admit. I was not unhappy when they fired Bloom, but I'm very unhappy right now, and I'm seeing a lot of signs that Bloom wasn't the real problem, or was far from the only problem. Maybe he was getting a lot of confusing and contradictory messages just like we are now. It's sort of up to Breslow to prove that a competent CBO can rise above all that confusion. Good luck, Crag.
  24. In that case I'd question if it's worth it, because Duran may turn out to deliver much more value. If we're only getting someone a bit better than Bello, might as well just let Bailey try practicing his alchemy on what we have.
  25. Somebody pointed out something that is a tad comical. After firing Bloom, the Red Sox decide to trot out Mayer, Anthony and Teel as the guys that are the key to the golden future. All of them were acquired by Bloom.
