    Some quick research indicates that you're right - the Tommy John epidemic started in 2014 and has been fairly steady since then. But that's a long way from your initial statement that injury is 'a risk inherent to every player ever'. Pitchers are much more susceptible to injury than position players over the last decade.

    Losing Story for the whole year was kind of a big deal. This team needed a lot to go right to have a chance. When you see the lineups we're putting out there, with Pablo Reyes hitting 6th or better, you know this is a team with serious issues. The starting pitching has been much better than expected, that's where the optimism has mainly come from.

    Maybe you missed this, but there are some new numbers showing pitchers are getting injured at an unprecedented and accelerating rate.

    With Duran you just hope the guy doesn't hurt himself on field or off. If he stays on the field he's a definite plus.

    Breslow acknowledged that we needed another RH bat and then...well...he just didn't get one. That's kind of the way it goes with this team now.

    Don't know about the fielders but the pitching is clearly much tougher. They throw harder and with more spin, and they have shorter outings.

    Sneaky little reports that they were. They had numerous things to choose from, unfortunately.

    I'm in, but what's this 'currently constructed' thing? Sounds like a qualifier to me.

    The same applies. Devers has a track record. Casas looks like a rising star. Duran has some promise. O'Neil has some pop. There's not much else.

    So what? It's a team that finished under .500 the last 2 years and is projected to do the same this year.

    It's not the numbers so much as how he looks. He's small, he's slow and he has trouble getting the ball in the air.

    Hard to say. He devoted an awful lot of the 2023 spending budget to it.

    He's already had 2 injury issues this year too. Those can take a toll.

    It's a game designed for overreactions. However, when you take a cold hard look at our roster of position players, after the loss of Story, it's pretty damn weak. It took a little while for it to sink in that Story is flat out gone for the year already. We really couldn't afford that kind of loss.

    Let's face it, Yoshida was an incredibly dumb signing by Bloom. I wonder how much it played into him getting the axe.

    He's on pace for about 25 extra base hits. Not what you want from your $18 million AAV DH.
