  1. Unreal how they can crank out a stat like that.
  2. Next game isn't till Wednesday night anyway.
  3. Alright. Good thread folks. Some very funny comments in here.
  4. Doesn't take long for us to start questioning lineups does it?
  5. It's not arguing, arguing is fine. It's pissing contests, and those never end.
  6. Wait till the 50 hours between Game 1 and Game 2.
  7. 84-78 on paper. 90-72 if the baseball gods are our friends all year. 78-84 if we get hit by another shitstorm.
  8. Yeah, not really sure what the plan for Gomes was. His pluses are that he kills lefties and he's a good clubhouse guy. Oh well, it's probably a good thing he's here to DH while Papi's on the shelf.
  9. His last 10 starts of the season - 278/366/528. Seemed to be coming back.
  10. There's one thing I believe he can do much better than average, and that's get on base.
  11. The thinking is Gomes will be the DH.
  12. My impression is that Nava is pretty safe. Farrell has talked about how he might be a good #2 hitter against RH pitching. He also singled him out for praise for his right-handed at-bat against Cliff Lee when he fouled some 2-strike pitches off and got a sac fly. Of course I'm a Nava fan myself.
  13. Agreed. When Fred sees something s***** he has to correlate it with something else. Francona always came in handy for that.
  14. Fred's right about one thing, we have had some very s***** starts the last few years. 4-9 in 2010, 2-10 in 2011, 4-10 last year.
  15. Jeez Fred, if you're such a big believer in these spring games, you should be doing cartwheels over Iggy's numbers : 292/324/446 770
  16. And Santana is an example of how risky these deals are.
  17. Obviously there's still a very good chance Bradley will get sent down later. But by having him on the opening day roster they are opening the possibility that they won't send him down at all. If the primary concern was preserving a year, they would have done it right now.
  18. It could still happen.
  19. But if by some miracle the Sox are leading the division and Bradley is playing great, they can't do it yet. In that scenario the fans are excited and happy, ticket sales are rebounding and for all reasons it's stupid to send him down.
  20. Of course. He's been working on becoming an adequate fielder, that's pretty much his ceiling there.
  21. Bradley era is here.
  22. I remember at one point the Yankees supposedly offered Hughes and Melky Cabrera.
  23. On the Red Sox website right now one of the headlines is 'Red Sox send Bard to Double A to find consistency'. Now that is some Pollyanna coverage. Many fans are thinking 'to salvage career', or 'to try to stop sucking'.
  24. Manny had a bad night in left in Game 1 of the 2004 Series. Errors on back to back to plays in the 8th that led to 2 runs that tied the game. On one of them he did a tumble out there.
