  1. I'd just as soon have some more tonight.
  2. Inferences are often well founded, but they are far from infallible. Many an innocent man has been put to death.
  3. He's swinging the bat incredibly well. I don't know about this retirement thing.
  4. Betts, Bogaerts, Bradley, Shaw, and Vazquez are looking pretty good to me right now.
  5. I don't know man. Some people might infer from your posting barrages that you are a nutjob. But we know that's not the case.
  6. De Aza is off to a crappy start too. I think we're fine with Holt and Young. If you can win a World Series with a platoon of Nava and Gomes, I think the one we have now is good enough.
  7. One of my favorite Ortiz moments came in the 2004 ALCS, not in Game 4 or 5 but in the first inning of Game 7. With Damon on 2nd and 1 out, Manny singled, but Damon got thrown out at the plate. It was one of those 'oh no, here we go' moments for Sox fans, and the Yankee fans were whooping it up in the stands. Up steps Ortiz and on the first pitch he smokes one into the right field seats and quickly wipes the smile off all the Yankee fans' faces.
  8. I say I have no freaking idea how he'll pitch tonight.
  9. JBJ obviously got some bad zone ratings on a few plays - it happens. I would expect him to turn those numbers around. The fielding ratings can look a little wonky sometimes, but it doesn't mean they're wrong.
  10. Price says Pedroia pointed out something that was different about his mechanics. https://www.bostonglobe.com/sports/redsox/2016/05/08/david-price-says-problem-easy-fix/HtnyWUNw6KsPUd3Vn2KQyI/story.html
  11. Baseball-Ref has him with a negative defensive rating this year as well.
  12. Not if they have a no-trade clause. Otherwise, in theory, yes. But in reality, the chances of some players being traded right now is .00001%. The Dodgers, for example, are not going to trade Kershaw.
  13. We seem to be pioneering the long term contracts that are awful in the first year of the deal.
  14. Trout is only 24 and locked up till 2020. And the Angels have lots of money. I don't buy the idea that they have any motivation to trade him. I think it's something a writer came up with for the sake of a story.
  15. I agreed with picking up the option. I wouldn't call it a no-brainer, because he ended the year on the DL with the type of injury that can come before TJ surgery.
  16. I think there's actually only one person defending Pablo. She sure does put up a good fight though.
  17. The Pablo bashing has become boring because there's nothing left to say. Every possible fat joke and condemnation of his character has been used. Time to let it go for a while. He's not part of the 2016 team.
  18. Price was coming off 6 seasons in which his lowest fWAR was 4.2. He seemed to be close to a sure thing. And I don't think anyone has ever argued that it wasn't an overpay or that it wasn't risky. It was more like something that had to be done because the rotation was so bad last year. Clay is Clay. I'm one of his few supporters here, but I understand why people have given up on him.
  19. And I don't understand why some people need to keep beating the dead horse. There's nothing else that can be said on the subject but some people have an odd need to keep saying it anyway.
  20. The spectre of injury is rising, I would say.
  21. We might need some sort of 'catch-all' thread for those whimsical thoughts that became threads on BDC.
  22. You are an asset to any forum, dd. You speak your own views honestly and you are capable of having a civil disagreement.
