Something that's starting to concern me a bit is Mookie's lack of walks. He has 1 so far, and he didn't have a single one this spring. Not sure what's up with that.

Maybe they would have moved Hanigan in that case. We don't know. For some time now this Vazquez-Swihart situation has been brewing. They can't both be our #1 catcher.

It's quite possible, but you have to admit this is total speculation. We needed a third baseman and Panda was the top free agent third baseman - you have pointed out this yourself when defending the Panda signing.

But how do we know that they weren't planning from the start for Vazquez to be the #1 guy as soon as he looked ready? Vazquez looks great to me.

It was a funny post but I don't really buy it. Everybody prefers a winning team. And most complaints about the past two seasons were justified.

The at-bat by Hanley in the first was huge. Great to see that alertness and hustle by him. And then of course for Shaw to step up and cash in two runs from it. The things that win ballgames...

The team looks like there's some real hustle and energy there. Maybe I should lay off Farrell...when I see a team playing hard like that it usually reflects well on the manager. Early days, though, early days...

What was priceless about the stolen base by Papi was the crowd reaction. There was a roar that started up when he took off - like, 'holy crap, Papi's stealing!'

One thing that surprises me a little is that women's golf doesn't do better financially. It goes without saying, but these girls can seriously play. There is no lack of eye candy (Sexy Lexi Thompson for example). And if you appreciate things like behavior and attitude and sportsmanship (sportspersonship?) you will not see any better examples. They smile a lot and hardly ever make a fuss like the men do. At the end of every round they hug each other and all the caddies. The other amazing thing about women's golf is how dominated it is by the Korean girls. Funny how a nation can be so good at one particular sport.

Postseason careers: Mo ERA 0.70 WHIP .759 Paps ERA 1.00 WHIP .815 Mo is better than Paps by a long shot, he's the best of all time.

Well, as sk7326 said, it's basically the starting pitching. The offense has been very good and so has the bullpen for the most part. If the starting pitching gets straightened out this is a good team.

We got lucky twice with him, catching him on a bad day and now missing him this series.

The Sox simply made a terrible mistake signing the guy. They failed to recognize what serious issues he had. The Sox front office had a run of idiocy that started with the joke offer to Lester. Hopefully it's over.
