Under this particular scenario I would say no. Because getting King Felix and then having his career end like that would be a colossal downer. Plus we'd have to pay him 80 million after 2016.
I see no difference between the gorilla suit and some of the stunts Manny pulled. Yes, they were lapses in judgement or behavior, but they don't trump the overall performance. Not for me anyway.
Also, I'll never understand how Farrell can be knocked for favoring Gomes over Nava that postseason. Neither of them did much, but Gomes's 3-run homer in Game 4 of the Series was huge. And it came off a RH pitcher.
That gorilla suit stuff means nothing to me. All I care about is his overall record. And his overall record with the Sox was sensational. 2 championships, 4 trips to the ALCS, worst season 86 wins.
I'm not sure why you mentioned Drew's bat here. He had an excellent season. He slumped badly in the postseason (as did most of our hitters), but his defence was outstanding.
And yet there are so many in game decisions that can have an impact in close ones like last night.
-Did he remove Pomeranz too early?
-Were Kelly and Buchholz the right choices?
-Should Hill have pinch-hit in the 8th?
Buch has been bumped out of the rotation, they traded for a guy to replace him, he's hardly pitched in July. I highly doubt he's in their plans for next year.
Sig bet on them exercising the option or not?
