    I'll assume Merloni was telling the truth. He's talking about one session that he attended, and he was with the team 5 years or so. And the way he described it the players were all going WTF was that? after it was over. Sounds like it wasn't exactly a regular occurrence.

    You don't usually talk about career worst seasons for a guy who has played basically the equivalent of 2 seasons.

    The Arenado deal might be another benchmark for Mookie along with Machado's and Harper's.

    They won 93 games, and their Pythagorean record was 100-62. But they had an inordinate number of blowout wins. It was disappointing to miss the playoffs, but this team was the prelude to the great run of success that followed.

    Yanks extend Hicks. It's interesting that they're not choosing to wait until the season starts to make these extensions official and therefore adding to their 2019 payroll for tax purposes.

    I've said this before - Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Maine are very similar places. Whenever I've been in Maine I have always felt very much at home.

    Hockey is it here. My community of Halifax/Dartmouth has produced the great Sidney Crosby, Nathan MacKinnon (currently 4th in NHL point scoring) and Brad Marchand of the Bruins (currently 13th in points).

    I didn't know he lived in Bangor, just that he was born in Saint John, New Brunswick.

    It also smacks of constraints, as in financial ones. Even with only signing Eovaldi and Pearce we have the highest payroll and we're 30 million + over the tax threshold. I understand your concerns about the pen, but other than that I'm not sure what big moves you were expecting.
