    The infatuation is still there because of the sense that he has never really had a full shot at proving what he can do, which is probably true, and he seems to be in full health. Maybe it's also because he looks much better at the plate than his numbers reflect...but that's more like personal speculation.

    That's possible. But I think he and his agent may have failed to take into account how much Craig's signs of decline would affect his market in this day of metrics-driven front offices. Or to use one of those cute little expressions, they did a bad job 'reading the tea leaves'.

    What was really cool, though, was going 11-3 (.786) in October against the Yankees, Astros and Dodgers.

    When you're playing the Yankees now it's pretty much the reverse strategy. Try to score as many runs as possible off the starter while not making Aaron Doofus yank him too quickly.

    I'm not convinced that it's a good strategy to start out with an ask that is obviously far-fetched, like JD's last year. I think it's possible that if Kimbrel had been looking for something like 4/70 he'd already be in uniform getting ready for the season.

    I warned these guys there was going to be an invasion. I think if mvp was the moderator then, he would have had tighter immigration policies.

    Betts is a special player. I think we'll retain him. But we won't know until we know. I've said this before, but I think we might actually be better off if Betts and Martinez don't have quite the magical seasons they had last year. But that only holds true, of course, if we win the World Series again. I'm not asking much, right?
