  1. I get all that. My take is that the fact that catchers can fool the umps so often doesn't necessarily mean the umps are incompetent. It means calling balls and strikes with consistent accuracy, at the major league level, with the naked eye, is actually a little above human capability.
  2. Ya don't say.
  3. But you've said pitch framing is an art.
  4. Kimmi, I think the sentiment that Dave has to go is not really based on this season. I think it has a lot more to do with the perception that the rebuild/reset time is here, and Dave is not the guy to implement that.
  5. And the gal in your new avatar should be the jockey.
  6. One of the smaller but not uninteresting offseason items is whether they bring back Holt and how much he gets.
  7. 3.38 ERA in last 3 starts. Hopefully he's getting bigger again.
  8. The fact that JBJ sat all 3 games vs. LH starters does make one wonder if they're unhappy with him in some way. Maybe they've been working with him on his approach against lefties and he hasn't been following advice or whatever. It is a bit of a shocker that he would sit all 3.
  9. Not entirely. I would have to think the two discuss these moves together. When they agreed to bring up Owings it would have been pretty crazy for Cora to then not play him. Just my take.
  10. Gorkys and Owings are both examples of DD doing a pitiful job with reinforcements this year.
  11. Let's be fair. DD has a major hand in this too. DD is the reason the best we can do for late-season lineup 'bolstering' is Owings and Gorkys.
  12. Gorkster has experience at the major league level.
  13. This is just mainly because I will argue about anything, but... You keep referencing the 7 straight losses vs. Yanks and Rays. I get it. That was horrible. But just to balance out the picture a bit, we actually played 14 in a row vs. the Yanks and Rays. In the prior 7 we were 5-2. So 5-9 altogether. Still sucks, admittedly. But it's not shocking to go 5-9 in a stretch of 14 games against tough opponents. Happens all the time. It's just the fact that 7 of the losses were in a row that makes it seem so bad.
  14. Ah, you know what the non believers say when things turn out better than expected: 'I'm happy to be wrong.'
  15. Let's face it, the I told you so game is a very popular one with sports fans.
  16. Rays just won. Cleveland plays the ChiSox later.
  17. I wouldn't say that.
  18. And he's not even on the list of prospects!
  19. I've NEVER seen ANY team's offense do what the Yankees are doing this year. To have so many significant injuries, but then to have to so many former no-names step in and post crazy good numbers...it's been uncanny.
  20. I thought he meant chasing 3 teams and having to catch 2 of them was better than chasing 2 teams and having to catch both.
  21. Some of these guys (Lemahieu, Urshela, Tauchman) are due for significant regression next year, too. They're having the magical seasons this year.
  22. Johnson's a bit of a soft tosser, isn't he? So he has to hit his spots on the button or he will be hurt.
  23. The Yankees will never have any payroll issues!
