  1. Jeezus, moon, why do you torture yourself and us with stuff like this. Morton's deal is only 2 years, of course, not 4 like Eovaldi's. Let's just be happy the Yanks didn't sign both those guys. I think there were some reports Morton wanted to play for a team in the south.
  2. Here's a joke I forgot to use in the previous game thread: In porn scenes the BJ is often used as the 'opener'.
  3. Game threads are the last place to look for rational opinions.
  4. Our chances are wavering between slim and nonexistent. There's really no need to go on and on about it.
  5. Some of the really good pitch framing is cheating, when you get down to it. Catchers pull in balls to make them look like strikes. It's as old as the game, I get that. But I don't think the game would suffer without it.
  6. Sorry. I didn't really think it was fair, I just thought it was funny.
  7. I think it's fair to say Ortiz gave us a discount.
  8. I'm not sure why JDM is being questioned so much. He was fantastic last year and he's been very good this year.
  9. I don't really disagree. I'll say this, if you look at 2018, our starting pitching depth was no better than it is this year. Johnson and Velazquez were much bigger helps last year.
  10. Bunting does still occur, though. And some say it should be used more, against the shift etc. And when bad bunt attempts are made, the 'lost art' thing comes up. I think Slash's point was valid.
  11. Underperformance can be a difficult thing to figure out. Take a guy like Porcello. I highly doubt that he isn't doing anything but trying his ass off out there every time out. Especially when you consider he's in his walk year and there's a lot of money on the line for him. He's not getting the results, but I don't think it's from a lack of effort. s*** happens.
  12. I hope we're both around to find out.
  13. One of the things WAR is good for, IMO...
  14. I'm in complete agreement. It's the unique skills and variables of hitting and pitching that make baseball so different.
  15. Oh man, that was a good one, Slash.
  16. Yep, nobody's perfect.
  17. The years matter too of course. Even when it's Mike Trout, 12 years is a long freakin' time to be paying.
  18. I don't know if this is a good thing or not, but the curly-headed scribe already put in his vote for Romero.
  19. Hahahahaha OMG the stereotypes we Canucks have to put up with.
  20. On the other hand, they were 8.5 games out of a Wild Card spot only days ago and now it's 6. Things change quickly in this game.
  21. To me the fact that catchers can steal strikes just confirms that even the best umps can't really judge balls and strikes very well.
  22. Brady is clutch, no question. Being clutch in baseball is a whole different thing. It's a completely different kind of game.
  23. I think 22 mill for one of the top hitters is perfectly fair. The going rate for the top all-around players in the game now is about 35 mill. So you're paying about 60% of that. And you don't have as much injury concern.
  24. What if, hypothetically speaking, that DH was the best hitter in baseball?
  25. Johnson and Velazquez are not unseasoned at all. They pitched a combined 184.1 innings for us last year.
