    Well, there are a couple of other big things about the starters: 1) Sale was signed to that extension in spite of all the injury concerns and it doesn't look good. 2) DD's big acquisition was Eovaldi and that doesn't look good either.

    There are actually 4 scenarios: 1) Extend this offseason. 2) Trade this offseason. 3) Trade at deadline. 4) Keep and try to re-sign as free agent.

    It's a bit odd that we pretty much know in advance that JBJ's arb award will be too high. But the real question is, how much could he realistically expect to get in free agency if we non-tender him?

    I honestly don't know what the duties of a President/GM who isn't the de facto decision maker are. What does Jed Hoyer do as GM of the Cubs?

    The Red Sox are #6 in home runs and #3 in the more important runs scored category in MLB. Pitching is the bigger concern.

    I don't think the President/GM name tag matters. It's who is the de facto decision maker on personnel.

    I think it's not all about blame by any means. It's about who is best suited for the team with its present and future situations.

    Correction: most think he was worth his money for 2015-2018. Obviously not this year.

    And I'm not trying to be a pain the ass about it, but it would be cool to see a list of available guys with: 1) Estimated 2020 salary. 2) 2019 UZR/150 or some other defensive rating.

    You kind of upped the ante with 'dirt cheap super defensive CF'er'. The list can only be made up of guys who are available, dirt cheap and super defenders.

    Moreland, BTW, might have the best bat flip ever. I don't usually like bat flips, but his is perfection.

    I don't disagree. But Moose was a fluke. He got a tiny fraction of what was projected. It was similar to the Kimbrel and Keuchel situations where one or two guys end up the evening sad and lonely without a dance partner...
