Cot's has the Red Sox as about $68 million under the first tax threshold for 2021. BUT that only includes players who are already under contract for 2021. So it doesn't include E-Rod or Perez or any of the minimum wage guys, for starters. A lot depends on whether they decide to exceed that threshold or not.

And he didn't trade Houck or Dalbec etc. He didn't leave the team in quite as bad a shape as some make out. But I'm glad to have Bloom guiding the team now. -

Put it this way: of all the big money on our payroll, the only money that's guaranteed to be dead money in 2021 is Price's 16 million and Pedroia's 13.75 million.
