  1. Now I've got that song in my head.
  2. And you were also the one who made the argument about the 2013 signings that started this. No free agents might = no Red Sox titles.
  3. At this point in time, Raffy does not look like a $30 million player by any means. And they can afford to wait to offer him an extension.
  4. Are you suggesting teams should not invest in free agents at all?
  5. Nobody knows yet.
  6. Probably so.
  7. It's all conjecture, but your conjecture seems overly negative.
  8. Celebrating the tax re-set.
  9. 100% correct.
  10. And made it all the way back to a .400 winning %.
  11. Don't forget the tweet though...
  12. Cot's has the Red Sox as about $68 million under the first tax threshold for 2021. BUT that only includes players who are already under contract for 2021. So it doesn't include E-Rod or Perez or any of the minimum wage guys, for starters. A lot depends on whether they decide to exceed that threshold or not.
  13. I'm not sure he's got as much money to play with as you're suggesting.
  14. I think the Rays are a major threat to win it. I'd make them the #2 favorite after the Dodgers.
  15. Ending his season, and quite possibly his Red Sox career, with a bang.
  16. Yeah, I can't argue with any of that.
  17. The sample size for Houck is too small to guarantee anything. But he certainly qualifies as a more promising possibility than Munoz.
  18. Says it all.
  19. (Somehow forgot one of the all-time bad names): J. J. Putz
  20. It shows you how much OPS can bounce even at the 60-game point. Vaz's OPS has increased by 76 points, from 725, in his last 5 games.
  21. I don't believe this is the goal for a second. We'll see this offseason.
  22. A 60 game cliff won't kill us. The prognosis for next year is not looking that bad.
  23. And he didn't trade Houck or Dalbec etc. He didn't leave the team in quite as bad a shape as some make out. But I'm glad to have Bloom guiding the team now.
  24. The Yankees 11-18 road record does not portend well for playoff success.
  25. Put it this way: of all the big money on our payroll, the only money that's guaranteed to be dead money in 2021 is Price's 16 million and Pedroia's 13.75 million.
