  1. Theo Epstein is the president of the Cubs. I don't think there's any doubt he's the head decision-maker in baseball operations. Sam Kennedy is the president of the Red Sox. I don't think there's any doubt Chaim Bloom is the head decision-maker in baseball operations.
  2. Not at all. Why would Ben resign if his position in operations wasn't going to change? Makes no sense.
  3. Jeez man, you really put a lot of stock in the official titles. If DD was only replacing Lucchino's function, Ben would not have resigned.
  4. His numbers have certainly gone in a bad direction this year - 40 K's and 6 BB's.
  5. That might only mean he's out of the game at an early age.
  6. Porcello it is then.
  7. In 1999 he signed Cabrera, drafted Beckett and traded for Penny. Yeah, I'd say he had something to do with the 2003 title.
  8. LOL every baseball executive would like that secret.
  9. I don't know, but he seems like an interesting possibility.
  10. He also put some pieces in place for the Marlins team that won in 2003, didn't he?
  11. Lakins was traded in January. I don't really see the connection with him and Weber, but roster management is admittedly not my thing.
  12. This was a lost season and a good one to tank.
  13. We also had a bunch of guys who pitched worse than Weber, so I don't know why you'd single him out.
  14. No Sale, no ERod, unloaded Price and Porcello. Bloom had his work cut out, to put it mildly.
  15. Too bad we didn't swap him for Odor!
  16. And the paucity of starting pitchers.
  17. Has he actually been a 'finisher' with every team he's been with?
  18. ??? You said you'd like to have given Ben one more year in your previous post. So what does this post mean?
  19. In the Yankees' last 16 games, the winning team has scored in double figures 9 times.
  20. The Yankees and Jays have played 6 consecutive games in which the winning team scored in double figures.
  21. What are you trying to say about Price vs. E-Rod? Note: E-Rod got the pro-rated portion of 8.3, not the 8.3.
  22. Jays #1 catcher Danny Jansen had 4 hits last night against the Yankees. It's the first time in franchise history that 2 Jays catchers have each had 4 hits in a series.
  23. I'd sign up right now for getting him and Sale both back in one of the J months. Obviously patching it together the first part of the season would be a challenge, but that's what we have Bloom for.
  24. Not really fair to cut his pay because of COVID-19.
  25. That's a possibility.
