  1. Lackey actually had a 3.3 fWAR in the first year of his deal. That's far from worthless.
  2. I've never seen a pitching staff collapse at the end as badly as that one did. The numbers are staggering.
  3. I get it. We were talking about this earlier. On the one hand it would be nice to protect him from getting hurt in meaningless games. On the other, if teams start shutting guys down for that reason, it creates some possible issues for the integrity of the sport.
  4. A crazy degree of randomness.
  5. It was 5 dominant shutout innings today, actually.
  6. He is certainly a source of vindication for Bloom.
  7. Another potato for Brasier.
  8. Because 16 teams.
  9. That was a very sweet blue dot.
  10. @TomCaron Eovaldi put men on the corners with no outs in the fifth but escapes with a pair of K's and a ground out. Scoreless in the 6th. Eovaldi has been outstanding, with 7 K's and no walks. He's averaged 97.6 mph w/ his fastball, touching a max of 100 mph. #RedSox
  11. Verdugo hitting .322 now.
  12. Devers is doing pretty well of late, no?
  13. #2 looks good to me.
  14. Your campaign against Nathan is diabolical.
  15. "Trending towards done" could catch on.
  16. I had no problem with the "old" 8 team system, myself.
  17. MLB expressly revamped their playoff format to give more of a reward to the division winners. I do agree that a 3 of 5 would be an improvement. The NBA and NHL don't have 2 of 3's.
  18. 30 or 40 good, affordable pitchers who are available this offseason?
  19. I'm not a fan of that either. But I think if you have the best record in the league you shouldn't be in virtually the same boat as the team with the 8th best record.
  20. Sure, the 2020 thread would be fine.
  21. I'm not saying it's inappropriate. But it has a lot to do with the specific matter of losing Mookie, and it could be a long discussion.
  22. Chicken and beer may have been overblown, but here's what's not overblown about 2011: -The Red Sox had one of the worst collapses in baseball history. And worse: -The Red Sox subsequently lost (arguably) both the best GM and best manager in team history.
  23. The ring Price won with the Red Sox arguably offsets the one Lester won with the Cubs.
  24. IMO we should have this discussion on the Mookie thread.
