This Rays team gives you NOTHING - very few mistakes, from the manager on down. You have to earn everything. And when YOU make a mistake, they jump on it. It's impressive to watch.

We've often seen controversy about pitchers winning or not winning the regular season MVP, so I guess there's no reason there wouldn't be some in the playoffs too. It's always an apples-to-oranges comparison between pitchers and position players.

Something bad always seems to happen with the Dodgers and Kershaw in the playoffs.

Braves pitchers are on a crazy roll. They've allowed 6 runs in 6 games, including a 13 inning game - and 5 of the runs were in one game. The Dodgers have their work cut out.

The Dodgers are kind of building Mookie up as the big difference-maker on this year's team. Will the final result be different?

One of the craziest splits ever: only 63 PA's, but Mookie hit only .185/..302/.204 against lefties this year. Last night he went 0 for 4, all against lefties.

And the injury-decimated 2006 team went 24-36 over their last 60 games - another stretch as bad as 2020... And they also won it all the next year...

What's the worst that could happen, right? Well, maybe they look at it the same way they did with the IFA penalties we were hit with, which was all about behind the scenes handshake deals, IIRC. So they could penalize us, and we would then be the MLB team most frequently penalized for cheating, I think...

There's a general clause about not structuring things to avoid the tax. This would be an obvious attempt to do so.

One thing I wonder about is what rights teams have to conduct medical exams on their players. It seems like the Red Sox should be entitled to give Nathan's arm a serious exam every offseason, but I don't know if they can.

We all respond to this stuff differently. For me the Red Sox winning 4 titles and taking away that angst has made me more dispassionate about the bad stuff that happened in 2019 and 2020. Also, I still have faith in the team's ownership. I think they're still motivated to spend money on the team and put winning teams on the field. I think we'll see good things going forward.
