  1. And no one suggested they would. You just jumped in making incorrect assumptions.
  2. No idea. But that's not the argument. The argument is whether the Red Sox would be doing well if they traded him for nothing except 50% salary relief. You and notin said that would be a plus. BTV, which both you guys seem to value, says it would not. Pretty simple.
  3. Spotrac says the player option comes first.
  4. Cot's shows Britton contract is guaranteed for 2021 and the option year is 2022. Have to give him credit for his pitching the last 2 games, he was clutch.
  5. The head-scratcher in last night's game was bringing Sanchez in as a "defensive replacement".
  6. It does seem like the Yankees got outmanaged in that series. (Kevin) Cash doesn't seem to make any managerial mistakes at all.
  7. Yankee fans on their forum are convinced that Boone didn't even make that call for Game 2, that it was Cash and the analytics guys. FWIW A-Rod said the same. If you want to get rid of Boone, you might have to get rid of Cash too.
  8. That's what the Yankees thought. Just couldn't resist.
  9. That's actually a pretty dumb statement. In 2020 Eovaldi had a 6.9 million value per FanGraphs, while making a pro-rated 6.3 million. So it was a net positive. And he finished the season looking very healthy and sharp. 52 K's and only 7 walks in 2020.
  10. No, the discussion was about another team picking up half of Eovaldi's salary. Please follow along.
  11. Just as I said, yes.
  12. If you want durable, bring Porcello back.
  13. Baseball Trade Values has Eovaldi's "AFV" at 22.4 million. That indicates that if you unload Eovaldi for nothing in return except salary relief of 17.0 million, you've made a bad move, you've lost 5.4 million.
  14. Yes, you're saving $65 million. But it remains to be seen what they post in WAR. I realize most people would play the under, but it would only take about 9 total WAR from the 2 of them over 2 seasons to be worth $65 million.
  15. Unless Bauer really is a kook, he'll be looking for $200 million at least.
  16. Sure, it's impossible he could actually stay healthy. And any other pitcher we get in his place would be guaranteed to never miss a start.
  17. Yay, we could pay half of two guys' salaries to pitch for other teams instead of just one.
  18. 2 wins in 60 games is a lot.
  19. Scoreboard says you're right. They sure are swinging the bats.
  20. The only good thing is that Sale and Bogey are the only big contracts not gone by the end of 2022.
  21. Not many would right now. But if he looks good when he comes back, that could change rapidly.
  22. They did their best under the circumstances, I'd say.
  23. True. Cora was a seemingly hot commodity after 2017, and DD did the quick swoop to sign him. You never really hear if other teams were in the hunt or not.
  24. None of that seems to address the tax question though.
