  1. He never once said Eric Gordon was superstar, he said he was going to be a star.
  2. You mean you don't like pitchers who have a higher spit count than pitch count on a game to game basis?
  3. Or sign a couple pitchers and keep your prospects. That is option C, and it's my favorite.
  4. So Madson is still a very real possibility.
  5. Color me surprised if Oswalt gets more than a two-year deal. What i don't understand is the fascination with Gonzales. Sure, he's young and cheap, but he's also wild, and has very significant split problems. Good candidate to implode at Fenway.
  6. Edwin Jackson should be an option, but the market for him has developed slowly. Saunders is not ideal, but given his durability, he should be a guy they keep an eye on.
  7. The two main issues with the Sox right now are a legitimate closer (They've been linked to Madson and Cordero) a starter (They've been persistently linked to Gonzales via trade and Oswalt). They're working on it, is what i'm trying to say. The Sox were the best offensive team in the Majors last year while getting nothing from LF and RF. They don't need to add a RF, they need to add a platoon RF, even though they may break the bank for Beltran, who they've also been linked to. The needs of this team have been overblown by a panicking Red Sox fanbase. Last year's collapse was an aberration, and mostly the cause of weak managing. If the roster is completed in satisfactory fashion (Another BP arm, starter, good OF) this team is yet again a contender. The world is not ending.
  8. The whole rhetoric about people having an emotional investment in the FO and its members is a strawman set up to hide undue criticisms and general whining due to a fundamental misunderstanding about how the Hot Stove season works. Teams work at their own pace, and you can't judge the finished product until the product is, well, finished.
  9. And why is that a bad thing? We've watched the Red Sox f*** up FA signing after signing, and go nuts about it. The fact that they're taking their time and letting the market come to them shouldn't be held against Cherington, specially on his first year as GM. He will be heavily scrutinized, so he better be careful and certain about each and every one of his signings.
  10. You don't quite seem to grasp what she's talking about. Notice how you've disagreed with a lot of things the FO is doing yet you don't annoy the living bejeezus out of several posters? It's all in the delivery. The know-it-all attitude and whining are as annoying as a case of hemorrhoids in a plane ride to China.
  11. You'd gut the system for Josh Johnsonn? One 200 IP season Johnsonn? The man is a walking DL stint and he's post-op. Re-think please.
  12. Oswalt is injury-prone? He had 7 straight 180+ IP seasons (with 6 of them being 200+) before last season, and the injury he had wasn't even structural. Stuff like this takes 20 seconds to check out.
  13. So envy's at the root of the disdain, and disdain is the root of all the whining. Explains a lot.
  14. Peter Abraham:
  15. Hard to say with an incomplete roster.
  16. Don't count Pimentel out for next year if he can start throwing his breaking ball for strikes.
  17. If we include all three of Doubront, Wilson and Bowden, i would wager the bullpen looks like this at the end of the season: Doubront Albers Wilson Jenks Melancon Rhodes Madson. It's plausible the Sox sign both Rhodes and Madson, who they seem to be actively pursuing, with Bailey also a possibility.
  18. Yeah, apparently you don't know how to read it iortiz. Re: Wilson and Doubront. I don't think Bowden should be part of the conversation, but that's just me.
  19. Prediction: Alex Wilson and a healthy Felix Doubront are integral parts of the 2011 Red Sox bullpen. You read it here first.
  20. Fred, what you need to understand is that you can do all of the above without insulting the posters that disagree with you. Notice how VA always calls you Fred, but i would need a week to come up with all the names you've called her during the short time i've posted here. Food for thought.
