  1. As of right now, the Red Sox pitching is middling, not a disaster.
  2. It doesn't matter whether there's a new boss in town or not. Avoiding drama should be one of the top targets of the Red Sox for 2011, and Valentine is not helping. Whoever says this could not be handled privately is letting their Valentine-goggles blur their line of reality.
  3. Your point would make sense if Valentine wasn't a new manager who hasn't even personally met all the players. You don't air dirty laundry unless a player's insubordination absolutely requires a call-out. I disagree that Valentine didn't call him out, i saw the interview, and he did. He should've kept his big mouth shut, because all that does is create drama, as it has. Look at the media and fans' reaction. Don't give me that "logical conclusion" line. Valentine created that mess all by himself.
  4. Those who defend Valentine are using Crawford's behavior as a strawman to defend Valentine's. Calling out a player in the media spotlight is stupid, creates a distraction and clubhouse turmoil. Terrible idea. This obviously doesn't excuse CC's behavior, but still.
  5. Really? Because as MVP said, he didn't get great returns on the trades for his headline pitchers, a point you have ignored and not rebutted.
  6. I don't know how this can be spun to not be a great deal for the Sox. Reddick has several holes in his game, Alcantara is raw and wild, and Head was blocked and K's a ton. Even if Bailey averages a 2011 season during his Sox tenure, it's still a good trade.
  7. Fred, the Varitek and Wakefield points are speculation at best. The FO has been quiet on both fronts, but the acquisition of Shoppach and non-contact with Wakefield speak louder than speculative theory. They are not sacred cows, and it would take a miracle for either of them to be back. As for your point on the prospects, Doubront is a young kid with good stuff who had injury issues in 2011, and Pimentel is only 21 years old. How have they crapped out? That makes no sense whatsoever.
  8. What i interpreted from the article was that the door was open for him "in other capacities". Then again, i was on a rush, and i can see why you would see it that way. If the angle you took is correct, that's a stupid, stupid way to go about things. The Varitek era as a player must come to an end.
  9. I was for Bard closing. Investigate first, post after. My intention is not to be blunt, but there's obvious intent to stir the pot here.
  10. Madson always sucked as a starter. As for the rest of your post, it's a great idea. Boras has even done this with the Sox before (Beltre), and should the contract be structured like the Beltre one (mutual option for little money) it would help lessen the salary cap impact. Best of both worlds.
  11. My bet is whoever signs him will sign him late in January. Boras has no option other than to play the waiting game for a team to get desperate. The question is, which team? The only organization with a clear-cut need for a closer right now is the Red Sox, and they honestly have other options.
  12. It is Boras. But remember that Boras does screw up (Hello Johnny Damon). He didn't take that huge contract the Phillies were offering, and now Madson's market is pretty dry and there's no "mystery team" to be added, because pretty much everyone (including the Angels) has a set closer.
  13. They're playing the waiting game with the remaining FA's. If Madson's price comes down to a reasonable amount (and it should) they could pounce. It would be a coup for Cher Bear to get Madson at a reasonable price.
  14. From Cafardo:
  15. I am here to please. Mission accomplished.
  16. The hypocrisy is tangible
  17. Look in the mirror. If you did something other than chasing others around calling them out (i.e talk baseball on a BASEBALL site) you would have moral standing for your "constructive comments". I wish you not coal, but rather that Santa gives you the entire Nickelback collection for Christmas. Jerk.
  18. Case in point. You've been following me around insulting me for weeks. As soon as i came on this site, i've been insulted and accused of being other posters. I never saw you jumping to my defense and now come up with this ********. If people respect me, i respect them back. You don't see me giving s*** to posters like Jung, E1, ORS or MVP. Get off your high horse. You have not made more than one baseball related post since i've been here. You have no moral ground to bash me for attacking posters who give me s*** when you add nothing to the discussion other than starting s***. It's the pinnacle of hypocrisy. @BPEF Oh, and Merry Christmas.
  19. Haha you have me all figured out. By the way, you're a real trooper for pretty much making the whole GT at TalkPats. In the end, a win is a win is a win.
  20. Simple. Because good posts are not valued here apparently. As soon as i signed up here i was met with accusations of being other posters, insults "Pink-Hat, FO drone" etc etc etc. And ******** from negative douchebags. Before you jump on the insult train (you don't know me, as you said) how about you read some posts and form an opinion? By the way, it's hypocritical to ask for "better behavior" through an insult. Oh, and f*** the Red Sox, their FO sucks, the players suck and the fans are great!!! PS: Read more of pumpsie. If you're sensible, you will stop laughing at his posts, and frown instead.
  21. So i am not allowed to complain about the things (and there are many) wrong with this team? If anyone's wearing a pink bonnet, it's you. You're the one trying to defend this incompetent FO who can't draft players, sign them, or conduct business. Some here have said several times that the Red Sox don't use a business model to conduct this team.....which is a business. That is outrageous! This team needs a house cleaning!
  22. They are stingy. They have more money, but don't want to sign the players that we, as fans, are entitled to have signed by the FO in order to put us over the top. What they did before does not matter. What matters is what they do now.
  23. Everything about the Red Sox sucks. I don't see why people bother defending this team, and specially, the FO.
  24. All of the players suck. But not as bad as the FO. They are all unprofessional douches.
