  1. Ross has been signed by the Red Sox.
  2. He pitches in a bandbox just like Fenway. Also, here is his ERA against the other AL East teams: Orioles: 3.56 Yankees: 5.98 Blue Jays: 7.26 Tampa: 2.57 While he's gotten lit up by Toronto and the Yankees, he could probably pitch to an ERA around 4.20 in the AL East.
  3. They should. If it's not enough for Oswalt, it would be enough for Floyd, were they able to swing a trade for him.
  4. Right-handed bat on board. Next up: SP.
  5. Isn't that why they traded Scutaro in the first place, to make some other moves? What do you want from Cherington? Have some patience.
  6. The way i see it ( i could be wrong) it would be much more difficult to replace Ortiz' .950 OPS bat, than Scutaro's fielding and offense. If Ortiz loses in arb, then they made the right move. If he wins, well then they f***ed themselves.
  7. Doesn't matter the order that they do it in as long as they do it, right?
  8. I would contend that: A) LAA isn't in the top tier. B ) Texas is in a classification all on its own. The talent pool of that team is just too deep.
  9. Re-building, re-tooling and re-loading are different things though.
  10. If the Sox get Ross and Oswalt (or another dependable #4 starter) come the start of the season, they will be very well-positioned to make a run.
  11. Oh, here we go. The "intellectual superiority" of a member of the crew. Well good for you that you understand the game from the comfortable confines of your couch.
  12. The idea that the Red Sox are "rebuilding" is pretty silly.
  13. It would've cost close to the amount paid to Ortiz this year to replace his lost production. Funny thing is, had they let Ortiz go, since they want Lavarnway to get prepped to catch, people would complain about the "Hole" at DH. Can't have it both ways.
  14. Incentives met would still count against the cap...so i doubt it.
  15. We have no idea how the negotiations are going. Maybe there's another hold-up, like health protection or they are trying to add an option a la Beltre to lower the salary cap hit.
  16. The cap is calculated at the end of the season. Which is why mid-season acquisitions count at a pro-rated rate towards the cap.
  17. You can't deduct the Sox' interest in Oswalt from the fact that they are not close on contract negotiations. He could be priority A1 for them right now but they could still be far apart in the negotiations.
  18. wut?
  19. I just don't think he can is what i meant though.
  20. Or get him to sign a deal like Beltre's.
