  1. The Red Sox BP was fourth in the AL last year in ERA, and first in WAR. It's not that it "wasn't all that bad" it was very good. You are assuming that both Bard and Aceves will be in the BP. That's highly unlikely. And again, the Sox pen wasn't "middle of the pack" last year. If the 'pen can come close to last year's level of performance without the overworking issue, it may end up putting better numbers by season's end.
  2. I'm just saying that easing up on the "diatribes" ain't a bad idea. You seem not to have read the part where i said that people jumping on you wasn't fair either. Go back through the thread. You tend to reply post-by-post without reading everything, then s*** like this happens. Just sayin'. Don't get mad bro. Also, for all of the bad blood, we share passion for not only one, but two sports teams. I've been a diehard Lakers fan all my life.
  3. Hey, the fact that you're so quick to get personal is a reflection of exactly the point Bellhorn was trying to make, who's in the uproar here? You are over 70 years old. Act like it. Suit yourself, but don't get pissy when you get run off from here just like sawxheads. Also, i will post what i want where i want to thank you very much.
  4. Conjecture, conjecture, conjecture.
  5. No need to read between the lines. Your whining and back-patting is annoying now, and taking it to even more aggressive levels (unless you don't actually know what a diatribe is) is only going to piss people off more at your ********. What Bellhorn said was absolutely spot on.
  6. Results speak for themselves. The circumstance is age. Knuckler or no knuckler, 45 years of age is old, and the deterioration of his body and skills is pronounced. This is undeniable. Also, the reliever point is not a position i presented. I just pointed out his numbers as a starter. Don't see where you got that from. But his age, durability and effectiveness have. You're ignoring the biggest problem: His age. The decline is obvious. He has declined every season since three years ago. It is a trend. Let's not try to pretend like 45 is the new 35. There's a reason why not a lot of people play deep into their 40's, and even though he's a knuckleballer, it is clear that he basically has nothing left. The "fans" deserve to see me break the record" comment. I thought it harmless, but people have run with that s*** and overreacted, just like they have with Ortiz, the beer and chicken crew, and Crawford.
  7. Yeah, he was a pretty good backup catcher.
  8. Germano and Miller aren't starting options. Tazawa and Doubront are younger guys who were injured but have much better stuff than Wakefield. The rest all had injury problems. Even while taking that into account, most of them still have better upside than Wakefield.
  9. Mostly as a reliever. He can't start anymore. The difference is upside, which some of these guys have. Wakefield doesn't. I won't get mad if they bring him back, i just see no point in it, specially after his PR fiasco of last year.
  10. Cook was injured, Miller will be deployed as a reliever. But here's the real problem, Wakefield will be 46 on opening day, and he has more problems than North Korea. Also, for what it's worth, Wakefield's WHIP as a starter was 1.39 and his OPS against .803. That is awful.
  11. Wakefield basically cannot perform anymore. He also has several lingering physical problems.
  12. Don't they currently have a full rotation (counting Aceves) and it will simply be competition for the #5 spot? Under these circumstances, Wakefield is not a fit.
  13. If you measure his performance against the impact of his attitude, there's no way to justify losing his contributions because of what is really an intangible. Even if he can't change, as long as he shuts up and performs, and Bobby V. can keep the rest of the players in the same wavelength, he is a net positive.
  14. Explain why? Not only is Dunn making less than what Ortiz asked for, he is making an average of 14 million, and his actual salary for 2011 was 12 million, which spikes to 14 million for 2012. Also, Dunn isn't even remotely the best comparison in production/age to Ortiz, it is Paul Konerko, who made 12 million last year and makes 12 million for 2012.
  15. The whole "transition year" idea is a personal machination with no basis in reality, just so you know, mr. realist.
  16. Being whiny is not a birthright. That's where a lot of Sox fans get it wrong. Being whiny is being whiny period.
