  1. Why rush those guys when you can get some guys with MLB experience for depth and ease those guys into the Majors instead of calling them for an emergency? Nava's fine for a 5th OF, especially if they get him some reps at 1B, but as you mentioned they certainly need someone with a bit more thump against RHP.
  2. They still need to get a LH bat to platoon with Gomes and build some SP more SP depth.
  3. That's not a very reasonable stance. I understand you don't value prospects highly and all, but that just doesn't make any sense.
  4. So if Florida decides they won't trade Stanton, Cherington should be blamed if he can't trade for him? What if another team offers a better package than the Sox can assemble? That's retarded.
  5. Excellent post.
  6. Fred....can you read at all? Did you read the post? Did you read the part about Bautista's numbers barely dropping off when he could play? It's no comparison because of the talent levels. Bautista kept producing, Nava kept sucking. Simple as that. Also, how is it an attack on anyone? It's an attack on the ridiculous nature of the post. Nava didn't suck because of the injury, he sucked because he's not a full-time player. For a guy who claims he was a teacher, you sure can't read at all. Also, about me disagreeing with the FO, again, you apparently can't read. Not only was i against the Dempster signing, but i publicly complained about them not signing Marcum. I have said again and again they need another pitcher. Stop being an idiot.
  7. Oh true. Apologies to Brennan, i got them both mixed up. Muggah is the guy i was referring to.
  8. As a fifth starter, they probably don't need 200 IP from Lackey though. The three guys they need at least 570 combined from are Lester, Buchholz, Dempster. The one that will make it difficult for them to reach that mark is Buch.
  9. You seem oddly familiar. Brennan?
  10. Because obviously, your made up scenarios are more plausible than the truth, who's the one talking drivel now? Well done sir. How do these idiots end up on talksox?
  11. Are you retarded? Where do you come up with this stuff? Anyways, who would be surprised if Upton didn't want to go to Boston with the fame the team has for being racist, and the Crawford fiasco. It takes a "mental midget" to discount the possibility of it being the case.
  12. 200 IP of 4.60 ball would be a massive improvement over 123 IP of 5.23 ERA. Be realistic.
  13. As much as i don't like Dempster, he should be able to outproduce Beckett's 2012 bag of suck.
  14. While the leverage point for no-trade clauses is mostly true, a lot of the teams in player's NTC's are actually cities where the player doesn't want to go. The whole "he'd waive his NTC for X extension" is nothing but fabrication on your part. As for the rest of your post, it's kind of whiny.
  15. That's a stupid comparison, but the point is taken. Durability is not an issue with Lester, but it is with Bucholz. I think that if the Sox rotation (spot starters included) can manage 900 IP of league average ERA with their offense and BP, they can fight for a playoff spot.
  16. Unless of course, Lester and Buchholz step up, which is a possibility.
  17. I'm not irritated. I'm speaking the truth. You're the one who's irritated because you have that raging hard-on for a 4th OF. Notice how i have not spoken up against Nava as a backup mind you, because that's exactly what he is. All of the excuses in the universe aren't going to change that fact. He's a good guy to have around, but come on.
  18. No they weren't. BJ was signed as a free agent, and prior to that he was drafted by, and spent his entire career with the Rays.
  19. Why are you even mentioning Bautista when talking about Nava? Also, Bautista had a near .900 OPS and hit 27 bombs in 92 games. Not even in the same universe.
  20. Napoli actually had a higher OPS than Gonzalez last season.
  21. Yeah, but they'll probably play the whole season and not stop playing over boo-boos or get traded. Calling last year's team a 69-win team while at the same time mentioning Gonzalez and Beckett as key components is dishonest because of the big trade.
  22. Hindisght. And unlike Napoli, as bad as V-Mart is, he's been a much more durable catcher. And the ability to play has value. And on what exactly do you base the claim that Napoli is/was a better overall catcher than Martinez? Seems like conjecture to me.
  23. V-Mart was (is?) an overall better player than Napoli though.
  24. In other words, keep Aceves and Morales around, because they're actual SP depth, which needs to be amassed any possible way.
