Absolutely every young guy that becomes a closer is an "experiment" at one time. By your logic, neither Rivera nor your beloved Papelbon would have been ever given a crack at the closer's role.

    Uehara is an experiment? Do you even watch baseball? I get it, you like Papelbon, but let's not fool ourselves with the idea that he's irreplaceable. The problem is that they have gone after a number of unreliable options while there were good, cheaper options on the market.
