  1. The Napoli point is where you hit the nail on the head. He has a similar "all or nothing" swing to WMB's, but he has much better plate discipline and pitch selection, especially with two strikes. WMB probably needs some more MLB exposure before he can show that he can lay off the two-strike low and away slider, among other junk he tends to swing at when behind in the count.
  2. There's nothing more aggravating than being shown the inadequacies of your thought process on a daily basis
  3. All of this LOGIC is melting my brain.
  4. Rjortiz, we've had our differences before, but if you were a woman, i'd put a ring on it.
  5. I'm not obsessed with Papelbon. I am obsessed with the closer who had what may be considered the best individual season by a relief pitcher in MLB history: Koji Uehara. The only reason i keep bringing up Papelbon is because iortiz and a700 won't keep hanging from his nuts. /clarification.
  6. So are Napoli and Pedey, so that's not the problem. His problem is his weakness to a specific type of pitch (low-outside slider) and to a lesser extent, pitch selection. He's not a wild free-swinger like Alfonso Soriano
  7. The problem is, Workman may be a better option right now as a swingman.
  8. How DARE you! Papelbon is CLEARLY the re-incarnation or MARIANO RIVERA, but in a douchey blowhard instead of a quiet badass mold. And why would you use stats and common sense when Papelbon's awesomeness speaks for itself?
  9. If they never played him against lefties, and limited WMB against tough righties, that would enhance both of their offensive values, wouldn't you agree? Also, you need to take into account that at this point in the offseason Drew's already stated he's willing to "help out" at other positions in order to increase his own value, meaning he'd be willing to play 2B/3B.
  10. I see iortiz is pretty strong with the Papelbon deepthroating as well, despite the Rivera Highway Rider's recent suckage.
  11. ^ What a load of nonsense. Dempster was essentially market value, and the arguments for Drew clearly state that they hinge on him getting a one-year deal since Boras clearly hasn't been able to sell him to another team given his draft-pick attachment. And Herrera being the reason they don't sign a 3+ win player in Drew? You need to be banned not from this site, but from the internet.
  12. Obviously. As i stated a couple posts ago, common sense is not the strong point of some here. Besides, i'm sure Ben's "Bodacious" T-shirts sell plenty well.
  13. Nothing on this board is baffling
  14. Specially someone who deep throats Papelbon, who's a shadow of his former self, so hard.
  15. On the flip side of the coin, is there certainty that Tanaka will be much of an improvement over the medium-long term. I can understand the financial aspect of it (he would put butts in the seats) but will he be half as good as advertised?
  16. Yeah, and he felt a need to hilariously turn it into a Theo hate post and hijack the thread. Good times.
  17. The cavalry arrives!
  18. *Shitstorm, and no. I was disputing YOUR idea that they may go that high, and if they did, it would be an ownership move. The "storm s***" started by your incessant need to s*** on Epstein, which is extremely annoying.
  19. Yet they can get Drew with neither of those scenarios happening. Why is this so hard to understand? Also, how is he "barely worth 7 million"? That is the definition of nonsense. His 3.4 WAR was worth 16.9 million last year per Fangraphs which, adjusting for the 20% overvalue people who know a lot more about the WAR formula than i do assign to the dollar value, it averages out around 13+ million, all of this even though he missed time then was severely limited by concussion issues during a portion of the season. Where do you come up with this stuff Fred?
  20. Nobody's disputing that 8/200 would be insane, then again, nobody's expecting them to sign him for that high.
  21. Drew should be a one-year guy who would serve to ease WMB back into a full time role or insurance should he fail. He should not be a limiting factor to XB's at-bats, who is clearly the guy with the highest upside of the three. That's a terrible idea Dojji. As for Fred, as usual, the other extreme, getting Drew on a 1/10 deal is simply not a bad idea. With the health/age question marks of this infield, an extra competent guy on a one-year deal is simply not a bad strategy no matter how you spin it.
  22. Don't forget the wealth of position prospects they have that could make a real impact as soon as the second half of 2014, including but not limited to Jorge Soler, Javier Baez, Kris Bryant and Mike Olt.
  23. He has criticized (not the Cubs, but rather Theo Epstein) for both not making big moves to bring the team to respectability, and now for a rumor that they may be trying to make a big move to bring the team to respectability as their top position prospects are ready to ascend to the Majors. Lolwut?
  24. He's agreeing with you i believe.
