  1. You, on the other hand, are pretty good at it.
  2. It's December. And of course you do, it's your schtick. And you're not very good at logic either ways.
  3. I don't understand why it's such an impossibility to think the Sox may be able to assemble a good pitching staff without Lester? Even though selective-readingfred claims otherwise, i've known and made it clear that the initial 4/70 was a dumb move by the Sox FO (if they actually planned to retain him). The only difference in my argument is that after further consideration i don't think they had a slam-dunk shot at signing him below market value in ST. Market value (which would have been around Greinke money) probably gets it done, but they were nowhere even in the ballpark. However, i'm taking the wait-and-see approach just because it's stupid (and i'm looking straight at you Fred) to whine like a litte bitch about an offseason that's pretty much just beginning. I hated the Panda signing. I made that clear, but i'm not giving out screams of anguish or claiming success until i see the finished product. Grow up Fred. Get off my nuts so we can coexist in peace.
  4. Goddamn you're an annoying idiot.
  5. Long-term deals for relievers are the riskiest types of contracts, and there's no way to even try to dispute that notion.
  6. Kevin Cash to be the new Rays manager.
  7. Supposedly the Orioles had legitimate concerns about a neck problem that's the likely reason for Markakis' power all but evaporating.
  8. Yeah, because at the time the general consensus was that Lester was definitely willing to give the Red Sox a hometown discount, but it sure as hell doesn't seem like earning top dollar wasn't his intention all along. Or did he change his mind? I just don't buy it. He didn't make the Red Sox a "give me this amount and i'll sign" offer either. Occam's razor is the likely answer here: Top money. Let me make the side-note here that this isn't a condemnation of Lester on my part. He has every right to look for top dollar, as does every other free agent, and shouldn't be criticized for it.
  9. I'm not saying it wasn't a stupid offer. I'm saying i don't buy the fact Lester would have signed for 120 knowing full well he would've gotten way more in the open market. Why would he take a 20 million paycut just to stay with the Sox? Let's be realistic here.
  10. I don't buy it. Not one bit.
  11. The hilarious thing is that a lot of the people talking Lester up now are the same people i was trying to convince a couple years ago that Lester deserves ace status, and that he's not just a really good #2. The opportunity to whine is pretty good at changing people's opinion quickly.
  12. That is, assuming Lester would have taken it. Thing is, a lot of people here are taking speculation as fact. Lester may have been planning to hit the open market and look for top dollar all along. We don't know, and shouldn't pretend we do. The idea that the Sox had a surefire shot at retaining Lester in the spring or earlier in the offseason is, at best, conjecture. It is Lester's choice, after all.
  13. That depends on the prospects and the return, mind you.
  14. The general consensus from scouts is that Cespedes rates as a 60 and 65 in defense and arm respectively in the 20/80 scale. That's damn good. I usually believe scouts and stats more than fans and media, but that's just me.
  15. No one should particularly care if they don't re-sign Lester unless they fail to adequately fill out the rotation. Well, unless you are dumb, or a whiner. Also, this is a general point Pal, not referring to you.
  16. Well that's because he's the one OF who's a surefire bet to hit but doesn't have options remaining.
  17. If i was the Sox, i'd quickly try to get Shields for 4 years and then went for one of the guys on the Nats/Reds. On the Reds, however, something i read that makes sense is that they may not actually be sellers considering the AS game is in Cinci this year and how they may actually have a chance to make the playoffs if the team stays healthy. I would avoid the Padres' starter (they both have horrible home/away splits). But they may have a suitable trading partner in Seattle again with their acquisition of JA Happ.
  18. In today's market economy, Cespedes is definitely worth Porcello. What the Tigers need, (and Jacko's usual hijinks) are a whole other issue.
  19. Mental masturbation is the easiest, but most unfulfilling type of masturbation.
  20. ...and the better hitter.
  21. It's December 3rd, and none of the pitchers has actually been signed/acquired. What "a lot of people think" doesn't mean Jack, if it did, Panda would still be a Giant, and Cliff Lee would be a Yankee.
  22. Oh God oh God oh God. That is the best post ever made on this site. And considering some of the hilarity brought about by YOTN, BtR, and to a lesser extent, myself, that's saying a lot.
  23. Scouts do the eye-test too. Scouts tell me Sandoval has great range, especially for somneone his size. Who do i believe? A scout that has watched Sandoval a significant number of times, or the tv eye-test?
  24. Other than 2013 (and the very much publicized defensive struggles Panda had that year) he's had positive range factors both by the components in UZR and the scouting community, and you're sitting here telling me Panda has no range. How did you come to that conclusion Dojji?
  25. I wouldn't give up Owens in a Hamels trade. Pass plz.
