  1. I'd take either.
  2. In this market economy? No it isn't. 24 may be an overpay, but 20 mill per is becoming chump change.
  3. I wouldn't be opposed to them getting a guy with one year left on his contract, and then having them sign two top-tier guys next off-season either.
  4. Actually if you apply the same standard to overall postseason success, you'll probably get the same result. If you give me some time, i can probably do the analysis.
  5. I like you already, welcome aboard! While i agree with your overall assessment of team needs and potential to reach the playoffs, i disagree with the idea that there's no correlation between a proven "ace" and recent postseason success. Last 10 WS winners: Red Sox: Schilling White Sox: No "true" ace. Cardinals: Carpenter. Red Sox: Beckett Phillies: Hamels Yankees: CC Giants: Lincecum Cardinals: Carpenter/Wainwright Giants: Bumgarner Red Sox: No true ace Giants: Bumgarner *To qualify, "ace" is a pitcher in the top 20% statistically in the league. You can't prove causation, but the correlation is there. The point is, it's certainly easier to win in the postseason with a top-echelon pitcher "getting hot" right around playoff time, although it's clearly not impossible to win the WS without one.
  6. Well played.
  7. 525 after last year's run.
  8. Remind us of these points in your next post, because you obviously haven't quite repeated them enough in your last thousand posts. As for what Beane is doing, he's trying to retool on the fly, and i wouldn't be surprised if he still has a couple of moves in him.
  9. You should have taken the chance to reverse-jinx it right there, my man.
  10. My bad. I thought he'd given in to the dark side.
  11. How was it dumb luck? That's a nonsensical statement.
  12. And yet you people continuously whine about the current ownership, FO and manager. That's why it pisses me off. Because you all know all of this bs people endured in the past from the Sox managers/fo/ownership.
  13. But.....but......trickle-down economics!
  14. Davis' career rates actually averages out to an .815 OPS. Wieters .743, and and Machado is really an unknown, although he's highly projectable. If you ask me, they lost more than they'll gain, especially in the ability to get on base, and the Blue Jays look like the more complete team. All of this is hogwash if the Sox get a #1 and the lineup stays healthy, as they'll be the ones steamrolling the East.
  15. Also, you were the chief proponent of the "Lester isn't an ace" camp, but now he was an ace up to 2012? Which is it? Be consistent.
  16. Miley had one of the higher GB/FB ratios in the Majors last year and had a huge 51.1% groundball rate. Can you please do SOME research before posting Jacko? It's hard to take anything you say seriously.
  17. For that option to activate though, he'd have to pitch 200 innings.
  18. Please post more.
  19. This is sig-worthy.
  20. The irony is palpable. Also, if you're all so butthurt because i called you out on your annoying circle-jerk, you're welcome to keep whining like little bitches while i laugh my ass off.
  21. No it isn't. Please do some research before jumping to the defense of your binky.
  22. Yet you say you're not antagonistic. Please stop posting on this board, and take fred with you
  23. fred, your post was ********, and you got called out on it. It is what it is.
