  1. Fielder is a vegetarian and his body type is deeply rooted in his genetics. Have you ever seen his dad? Same type of build. Fielder will always be a big boy, there's just no changing that. He eats healthy though, so while "fat", I'm sure he's in great shape.
  2. I can't see how there's even a chance Posada goes to the Hall. He was a good catcher and had the privilege to play on some epic Yankees teams. His career WAR (B-R.com) is good for 330th, right behind Jamie Moyer and Mike Cameron. His career OPS+ of 121 is equal to that of Josh Willingham and his defense has always been below average.
  3. No matter how you cut it, this is our last playoff year for a little while, and then we will be garbage for the next 3 seasons. We have only a few trade chips, and Rondo is the biggest one, yet he isn't worth a whole lot. If we know his weaknesses (shooting, FTs), then the other teams know them, and then some. He is great at distributing the ball, but on offense, it's pretty much 4 on 5. Pierce is getting old and is close to Kobe territory, as in they're virtually untradeable. The team needs to be blown up asap, getting the maximum amount of picks possible. We'll go to the playoffs this year, but I don't think we'll get out of the first round. Those younger teams will run circles around us. Garnett and Allen are both gone after this year, then we're left with an aging Pierce and a one-dimensional Rondo. 2012-13, I see a 30-52 team.
  4. I think Billups will start at the 2 for the Clips and Mo will be on the move.
  5. I'll be honest here, I was out of the loop for a few years while I was overseas, and I have no idea who the guy is. Hopefully he can help us out, but we still need at least 1 starter.
  6. I'd take Hanley over Youk every day of the week.
  7. My vote goes to Miggy. The guy quietly plays his ass off every year, and he's still only 28.
  8. All I've taken from your posting is a huge crush on Pujols. You do not give other players their due, ever. Pujols is starting to decline, and is not on a different level as the rest of the world anymore.
  9. Another thing being overlooked from the fans perspective is that doing that trade would cause the Hornets' payroll to rise, costing each owner an additional $550k. It's possible they just didn't want to pay more. Another trade idea.. Lakers get Chris Paul Houston gets Pau Gasol New Orleans gets Martin, Scola, Dragic, and 3 draft picks (the first round picks of the Lakers, Houston, and New York for the 2012 draft). With their own pick, that will give them 4 picks in what's supposed to be a deep draft. Lakers keep Odom, which makes a deal for Dwight a little more realistic.
  10. It's opinion, I'd take ARod in his prime, you'd take Pujols. Neither of us would be wrong.
  11. It's not close from which side? They're pretty comparable. ARod 96-07 - 7.5 WAR/season Pujols 01-11 - 8.1 WAR/season ARod OPS min/max 96-07 - .846/.1067 Pujols OPS min/max 01-11 - .906/.1114 ARod also played the most premium offensive position for 8 of those years, SS.
  12. I agree, but as he ages, his body will break down just like anyone else. It just may take a bit longer to start.
  13. That's debatable. ARod was coming off a .314/.422/.645 season with 54 HR, 156 RBI, 24 SB, plenty of speed, good glove, and only had a couple of minor injuries in his career. He also plays 2 premium positions well. Pujols is coming off a .299/.366/.541 season with 37 HR, 99 RBI, 9 SB. While some say it was a down year, it could also signal the beginning of a decline.
  14. 5/77 isn't nearly as bad as the 5/100 or 6/120 a lot of folks thought he'd get. That deal really isn't all that bad. The only problem I have is his age. People tend to forget he is already 31.
  15. Wow, I fully expected the Cards to resign him when the Marlins bid fell through.
  16. I think I misread something. I thought there was a clause that the Brewers would forfeit the picks if they bought out his contract. I can't seem to find details anywhere. Ohh found it. The Brewers would still receive 2 picks, but the signing team would not have lost any picks.
  17. I loved the comments. Stir the pot, get the rivalry heated again. It hasn't been that good since Pedro punked Don Z.
  18. 4/58 isn't bad. I thought he was worth at least 3/45, so the AAV is right on. Like others said, his pitching style will translate perfectly later on in his career. Possibly a poor mans Greg Maddux?
  19. They expected someone would be idiotic enough to sign him and they'd get the picks. It blew up in their face and now we're stuck with him again.
  20. Westmoreland to face live pitching this week! http://www.weei.com/sports/boston/this-just-in/21159956/prospect-westmoreland-play-games#.Tt0cTwIP0to.facebook
