  1. Of course it made a big difference, you can not unring a bell.Henry set everything in motion which led up to this trade. I am not blaming Bloom. He did as well as he could under the circumstances.
  2. Really, I think this deal was a case of the Dodgers cleaning the Red Sox clocks. The Sox because of Henry's misguided pronouncement of getting below the Lux Tax put poor Bloom at a competitive disadvantage in any trade negotiation. He was dealing from a position of weakness. The only good thing about this trade is that I won't have watch drama Queen David Price pout his way through 2020 season. Bloom did okay in the sense he was dealt a crappy hand by his owner and he played about as well as he could but he still came out on the short end of the deal.
  3. I wouldn't get too excited about Downs just yet. Having read his scouting report, his defense is still a work in progress. I don't think he will be ML ready until 2021 at the earliest.
  4. Well if this proves to be accurate then Bloom did okay. I agree this is a better deal than one that was originally constructed. Losing Betts is still a bitter pill but losing Price is a big plus. Can't say I ever warmed up to him. So in toto, I'll give Bloom an "Atta Boy"
  5. Bloom will really be considered a huge success when Rays fans outnumber Red Sox fans at games at.Fenway
  6. Whether this trade happens or not Bloom hasn't exactly instilled the Fenway faithful and Red Sox Nation with confidence .
  7. This Mookie Price trade is becoming quite an epic. It is becoming as long and drawn out as one of Tolstoy's novels.
  8. Do think that's how Jenny Dell hooked him? With a slider low and away or was it once he married her baseball just wasn't that important!
  9. Blame Jenny Dell! Kimmi don't know behind every man's success (or failure) is a woman.
  10. I think Bloom's goal is young pitching prospects. We'll see if the above happens.
  11. I understand that the Twins have backed out of the deal. https://www.twinkietown.com/2020/2/8/21128417/mlb-minnesota-twins-back-out-of-trade-news-boston-red-sox-graterol-kenta-maeda-dodgers-mookie-betts
  12. His name was Robert Szasz. Haven't seen or heard him in several years now. Often there were so few fans at the game you could hear him the entire game.
  13. Actually Mendoza is being promoted at ESPN. She will be doing more baseball. But you are right the whole ESPN baseball production is terrible.
  14. In a nice way without being bluntly crude, I was pointing out that implying that Henry may have pro Nazi sympathies could be consider slanderous libel. I was trying to be subtle knowing how thin skinned you can be.
  15. Henry owns the Globe, one of the most liberal papers in the USA.
  16. Marge Schott got fired because she pissed off everyone, the other owners, the fans , the players and the baseball writers. Moreover she didn't own the area's leading newspaper. There is an old saying "Never pick a fight with a guy who buys his ink by the barrel"
  17. Bloom didn't fire Cora. If it hadn't been for the cheating scandal in Houston Cora would still be there. The Cora decision was made by ownership, just like this one is IMHO.
  18. I have to ask myself if I am Bloom wouldn't I want my own person as manager, I suspect this decision was made above Bloom's pay grade as they say.
  19. If (and this is a big if) the investigators have integrity, they shouldn't know anything until the investigation is complete. Now of course the investigation could have been completed and the Commissioner simply hasn't announced it. Whatever the fact the Red Sox haven't formerly made the announcement suggests that the Red Sox aren't 100% sure yet. It isn' t as if they haven't rushed to judgment in the past now have they?
  20. I don't think Bartolo Colon has officially retired yet. If some team signs him he could be pitching until he is 50.
  21. Some body failed to do their due diligence.
  22. Let me make it clear, I think this a bad deal mainly because the Sox are essentially giving up on 2020. I however wouldn't object to the deal if it were in July and if at that time Boston were no longer in contention. I hope the deal collapses and Bloom et al regroup and at least give this team a chance to be competitive in 2020.
  23. Of course, it is the Dodgers problem if they want the trade done. To put it another way, it is a problem for the Dodgers, just as it is for Boston and Minnesota.
  24. Proof the Apple doesn't fall from the tree.
