    I could be wrong but LL has an ownership share albeit a small one. The point is that it don't matter who in the FO you fire so long as Henry still owns the team. IMO he IS the problem.

    I have read James's books. James criticized the Freeh report which I read. James should stick to Baseball. He knows nothing about the Sandusky case or child welfare issues.

    I certainly agree. Ellsbury confounds me. I am afraid he could be another Brady Anderson who had one truly great year. If the Sox could get a reasonably solid starter, a nbr 3 or better I 'd of course trade him. If not, I'd wait to see what he does next year. Granderson is scheduled to be a free agent I believe at the end of 2013. Granderson may be signable at a more reasonable rate than Ellsbury.

    It is specious because others have been out longer and been successful. The length of time between BV's MLB managerial stints are of minor significance as why he has failed if one chooses to believe that his stint here did not accomplish its objectives.

    Regardless of what one thinks about BV, one of the more specious arguments against his hire is the fact that he had been out of baseball for ten years. Forgetting the fact that he did manage successfully in Japan, both Dan Duquette and Davy Johnson were out of MLB longer. Who can argue with eithers success. Some may view BV's tenure as a failure. If it is a failure it isn't because he was out of MLB for ten years.

    The pitching coach spoke to Lester after the inning. Lester has become his own worst enemy on the mound.

    I am just saying what I'd do if I were in his position. I like Canada and Toronto. I almost lived there ended up in Buenos Aires instead, Never been to Halifax though.

    Shaughnessy is doing a book on Francona I believe with Tito's support. Can you imagine a sequel from BV's point of view if he gets let go the same way Tito did.?

    If I were Farrell there is no way I'd leave Toronto, so long as the Jays wanted me.

    The Jays look as dead as the Red Sox! Why are so many interested in Farrell? It beats me.

    There are coaches and players who aren't worth talking to. Lucchino made a huge mistake in not letting Tuck or Bogar (one of whom wanted out before the season started) walk during the off season.

    I also think that ownership doesn't want to reward Bogar by naming him interim. Bogar and Tuck are part of the problem. They need to go whenever Valentine goes.

    Ellsbury reminds me of Brady Anderson. I question how much his shoulder has really recovered.

    IMO BV 's hire accomplished the purpose of demostrating how dysfunctional an organization the Red Sox were. BV was a necessary interim step in organizational and cultural change. I have my doubts however whether Henry has fully understood what happened to lead to the current situation. Nor, I am convinced that he will take the steps needed to set the franchise on the correct course. Many here have spoken of the need to bring in an experience outside baseball exec to oversee Cherrington. I doubt that Henry is ready to do that. I have zero confidence that Cherrington left to his own devices will find the right manager. A Gene Lumont or a Brad Mills type isn't what is needed.

    As for manager let me put a word in for Ryan Sandberg, Baseball America's minor league manager of the year. BTW since BV will still have a year on his contract, he is a better judge of talent than Cherries; I'd kieep him as a special ass't to Lucchino (who is unlikely to be going anywhere) I do agree thnough they need an experienced Chief of Baseball operations above Cherrington.

    There is growing speculation that Henry is positioning the club for sale, something I have believed for sometime. Nevertheless, I can't understand the FO's support for Cherrington. BV is toast. Clearly he has checked out emotionally as well as mentally from Boston. The FO though should consider bringing an experienced FO executive to be chief of baseball operations. Let this new Chief Baseball Operations exec pick a manager. There are many who are lobbying for John Farrell's return. I just don't see it for two reasons. First, why would Farrell want to leave Toronto for the Boston zoo. Second, Farrell is part of the ancien regime. It is time to move on with both a new approach and the people to carry it out.

    It is possible if not probable that the reason BV didn't notify Aceves before the game was because BV hadn't made up his mind until after he saw how Bailey was pitching. Managers do have the right to change their minds during a game depending on the situation. In any case Aceves antics were worse than unprofessional they were childish.
