  1. Lester has a four run lead two outs and he walks the nbr 9 hitter. Wake up John and smell the coffee.
  2. The only advantage Salty has over Shoppach is he is a switch hitter. He strikes out too much. He can't throw worth a crap. He is a lousy receiver. He calls a terrible game. Salty has not become what the baseball ops thought he would be. He is another one of these guys that they had their eye on for a long time because he fit some kind of model. He will never get any better. He more of a liability than Shoppach but because he has hit a few a more home runs he is good trade bait. So I would trade him now. His value to a potential contender will never be higher.
  3. Agreed. He is pitching like he doesn't want to be there.
  4. Buccholtz was tremendous tonight but it was the Guardians not the Rangers, Angels or Yankees.
  5. At the risk of starting a raging debate but all the research in organization management shows that morale is not necessarily related to performance. From everything that is been written the team ( the players) have good morale ie cohesion among themselves. That is the problem. Their unit cohesion is not focused on winning as we saw last September. That's why many feel (correctly I might add) that Beckett and Lackey are the core of the problem. Finally I hope there is a revolving coaches door. Tuck and especially McClure are problems. They must go whether or not BV goes or stays.
  6. Cherrington is indecisive. Moreover I blame him for deliberately undercutting the manager who wasn't his choice. If Larry really runs the Red Sox (and I don't believe he does) he should fire Cherrington at the same time he fires Tuck, McClure and Madagan. They can all leave on the same plane that sends Beckett and Lackey back to Texas.
  7. How many first inning nightmares do the Red Sox need to have before they recognize that whatever pregame routine they have isn't working.
  8. I agree. I'd like to see how Lester would respond if Beckett and Lackey weren't around. I also think that the Sox should trade Salty not Shoppach. Salty is a worse defender than Shoppach, calls an inferior game and strikes out too much. He has struck out 36 of his last 74 ABs. One can predict his ABs. Get ahead, then with two strikes, throw a breaking pitch down and in, strike three .
  9. Beckett needs to be consigned to the bullpen like Oswalt was by Texas. If he complains TS. He is radioactive. No ML team would want him.
  10. The Sox have a glut of utility infielders who are readily available. In addition their farm system has several solid prospects. What they need are pitchers.
  11. Orsillo made the point which proved accurate that the ledge is wider than it looks from below and it is virtually impossible for a fan to reach over the red line.
  12. Great move by BV
  13. Well said! Cherington should be the first one fired if anyone goes IMHO.
  14. Henry doesn't have a clue. Remember when he went on Felger and Mazz last year he said the "Josh Beckett is one of the most competitive persons he knew." He also admitted he had never heard of the chicken and beer in the clubhouse.
  15. BV problem is complicated by the fact that the starters sucked for the first part of the season. His bullpen is gassed as a result. So what does any one expect. The fact that McClure is clueless and Tuck is a jerk for not talking to the manager from day one didn't help matters either.
  16. This was posted elsewhere but it doesn't come as a surprise to anyone. Lackey is the rat. "98.5 The Sports Hub's Gary Tanguay revealed on Tocuher and Rich this morning that an anonymous Sox source has confirmed that John Lackey is the player who went to management over the comments Bobby V made to Will Middlebrooks. Tanguay also went on to say that his source has attributed much of the toxicity in the Sox clubhouse to Lackey's arrival starting in 2010."
  17. I have a Spanish edition which I read from time to time. Years ago a Spanish friend told me that you can open Cervantes to any page a find a gem. It is true!
