We fall too much in love with our players and overlook the big picture. DD better have something up his sleeve.

Vaz has a cannon for an arm and in my opinion is doing pretty good. He should get better as time goes on. At this point we do have to look at every position and if an upgrade at that position is poss. especially power wise, we have to do it. Unless we can bring in a quality power bat that is under team control for a couple years, we should just hold onto our assets. It sucks right now because we might be one or two players away from being really special. Our pitching is pretty darn good and can take us deep into the playoffs. I could be wrong but unless we get that one impact bat, we may bow out quick like last year.

A win is a win, probably an 80% chance if Sale pitches today we win. On the road trip he may be in a dog fight and lose. A f.. 2 game swing. All in Farrells big plans..

That Shaw deal is really starting to bite us. No one thought he would have these numbers, but I figured him for at least 20 - 25 homers and 70 to 90 RBI's while hitting a solid .275 He could have also DH'd and played first. Again, Hanley is not a money player, and will let you down more than he will come through. Too many times he comes up and instead of trying to make contact to drive in a run he swings from his ass and at pitches out of the zone. He is a head case. Wish we could send him packing too, but any production he does put up is badley needed because we still have a couple voids to fill. Be nice to bring in Frazier and get him on tract and maybe try to resign him. Right now 1b, 3d, dh, are far from being locked down positions. Moreland is hot and cold, Hanley??, and 3d until Devers is actually here and producing is still a problem. If DD makes one or two right moves, we may have the fire power to make a deep run. I for sure wouldn't trade someone like Devers or Groome for a rental. Going forward, I would have no problem trading a blue chipper for an impact player but he needs to be under team control...

We as an org. can't afford to trade any young power hitter right now. Not for a relief pitcher. The Sox weren't sure about Shaw either and how did that turn out.... Our biggest need right now is a dependable power bat. Hopefully at 3b, but someone..

Big f... blunder. Counting on him to turn it around this year and trading Shaw turned out real good. I was pissed when they traded Shaw. Love having a healthy Thorn in the pen, but we ended up with a real mess. Just ask yourself what would we have to give up to get Shaw back. Not a good move. When you unload any type of young talent, you better make sure you KNOW what that players potential might be. Everyone keeps talking about Devers and rightly so, be if he is our third baseman of the future, we could have still used Shaw at first or DH. After giving up a lot of our young talent for Sale, which right now is huge success, why on earth would you trade another up and comer like Shaw when we could have had Thorn for someone else, or just don't make the deal.. Really sucks, because right now we are in a bind for a power hitter wether people want to admit it or not. Hanley can't hold Ortiz's jock. He is a joke. Goes on a tear for a weak and everyone loves him. He is a dog and not a money player. He is a screw up and not a team player, but he's ours. I for one believe in pitching and defense which is why we still have a shot, but with all the money ownership has invested right now, anything less than a deep run will be considered a failure.
