  1. Im pretty sure this might have been mentioned somewhere before but what about trying Bard out as like a 5th SP? Or does he not have the stamina for that position?
  2. Oh and in addition, with Lackey getting surgery, he still gets paid under contract right? So how does that work? Meaning would he get paid a little less for no play time on the field thus having the Sox organization having a little more money to deal with? Or it doesnt really matter because he is under contract so we pay him no matter what?
  3. I can understand that it would probably be very easy to let Wakefield go. Varitek on the other hand Im not too sure, especially with this FO. Didnt we do the "big dance" (so to speak) with trying to figure out if Varitek should go or not a year or two ago? If he is still with us now, whos to say he will be let go? I agree that he should go but I think (but I hope not) the FO might have different plans for his future.
  4. I agree. Not too sure I was reading between the lines, but from what I got out of the press conference was that alot of things may actually stay the same. Maybe a few changes but I didnt get anything too huge about it. I have to admit, Cherington "looks" really really young. Looks younger then Theo.
  5. This whole topic reminds me of the Dodger's Sandy Koufax in 1966. I think that might have been his last season before his arm gave out ending his career. I forget if his arm "exploded" so to speak or if he had developed some type sickness in his arm. But he had pitched complete games before I believe. In any event, getting back to Beckett, in the past I have seen Beckett pitch and when he was doing really well with the Sox up past the comfort point in the score, they would still pull him out of games even if he didnt want to go out. But because of the whole pitch count issue he was pulled. Wouldnt it sound better and more intimidating if your team went up against a pitcher who was known more for pitching complete games?
  6. Lol!!! Classic.
  7. But wouldnt Epstein and Cherington dealing with compensation be a conflict of interest because of the issue of Epstein in general?
  8. You know, back in the 50's and 60's it used to be the norm that pitchers would go an entire game. When did it become common practice that pitchers would only pitch to the 6th - 7th innings or until they hit the 100 pitch count?
  9. What is the general rule (so to speak) on getting talent from your own farm system as oppose to getting free agents or trades? I guess what I mean is, it sounds more risky to go after free agents instead of within. I suppose to be more specific, in terms of talking about contracts.
  10. What about as a pitching coach?
  11. Ok ok I will admit it! Im the one who voted for Garza (sigh). Sorry.
  12. Thats very interesting. Something like that didnt happen here right? But maybe Tito was "trying" to get the other coach's to have more responsibility and it didnt work? Idk Im just doing wild guessing here. But in any event I am sure most of this will change next season. Interesting to note that other teams were doing something like this as well. I thought it was very interesting when the Globe printed the list of teams that allow beer and those that didnt. The Evil Empire was one of the ones that didnt allow it. Of course we were on the other list.
  13. Lackeys gatta be next. Its just the next logical step in this whole mess.
  14. Is it a bad mix of guys OR a bad mix of crazy ass contracts? I guess in the long run it doesnt really matter but I hope the FO backs up the new manager more then they did with Tito.
  15. I could see Bard playing a serious role in the 2012 season as a number 4 or 5 SP.
  16. Perhaps if Lester had added something new that wasnt known before the public knew about it, then maybe it might have made a small difference. Doesnt really matter anymore. Why didnt he say something sooner anyway. Even if Beckett and Lackey say anything it wont change my personal view of them over this. However they need to say something, anything but I bet we won't even get a sorry out of them. Red Sox Nation demands an explination on this, period!
  17. So once Ben has full control over his position, what should be his first move after finding a manager?
  18. I thought Jason Bay was actually pretty good when he was here. I mean his numbers were ok weren't they?
  19. If he pulls this crap next season can we push him to the "Evil Empire" and they can deal with his s**t down there?
  20. Oh I know what you mean. However, do you think JH said what he did only because Crawford didnt do as good as anyone expected his first season here. If he put up great numbers during this season do you think JH would have sung a different toon towards him?
  21. Could someone tell me what exactley happend to Dice-K (concerning his injury)? I dont think Im too clear one what it was. Pluse did someone mention that he may not be back on the field for us until next August? That is not a very reashoring comfort here.
  22. Ok ok, I never looked at it that way. I see where your going with this. Very good point indeed. Oh and um...hell no I wouldnt take Hanley back.
  23. Hmmmm ok well there goes that thought. What about the Marlins? Think they would want Beckett back? I dont know Im just shooting off beat ideas here.
