For once McCarver has most of this right. The problem is that they are swinging at this off speed stuff. If they were sitting FB it would not matter so much how Sanchez was sequencing. So far the Sox have just been putty in his hands.
That pitch is killing Jon. He has gotten away with it most of the night but I really don't know why Ross keeps calling for it why Jon keeps throwing it. Doing these guys a favor every time he serves it up. Other than that he is really pitching a great game.
All you can do at this point is credit Jon for hanging with Sanchez like this. We have to get Sanchez out of the game. He has the Sox so fouled up at this point they don't know what they are swinging at or where it is. Looks like a f***ing magic act to them right now.
Don't get me wrong...Sanchez is pitching a great game so far but the Sox are helping him along. Trying to time a guy's off speed stuff when he is throwing like this is a recipe for failure. Just asking for it.
Come on Sox...pick out a good pitch and lace it. WMB is one of the few that has been looking FB. Hope more of them start doing the same. I really don't think Sanchez FB is that great tonight. But a number of the Sox hitters are trying to time his off speed stuff and getting beaten by the FB for it.
It looks like the Sox think they can have fun with Sanchez off speed and breaking stuff. But in looking for it they are making themselves vulnerable to his FB which is really nothing to write home about tonight. If they would sit FB instead they would be ripping the cover off the ball on those instead of sitting for breaking balls and getting beaten by the FB. Pitch count is still up there though.
Can't believe how cool and collected Iggy is out there. Bobbles the ball, Ells running, sort of screws around as he passes second base and his release is so damned quick that it was not even a close play....with Ells running!
