Yes yes yes....Jeez I wish I could have seen 2nd base while XB was throwing. That motion looked like he was throwing the ball into right field and I nearly had a heart attack.
Man I have hated that pitch for two straight starts now. Got Peralta with it but it really has been the only pitch that has cost Jon in two ALCS starts now.
Pedey reminds me a little of that high school 2nd baseman moving up to varsity trying to do everything by the book so he does not f*** up. He is really making sure tonight. Fielding like he is at a baseball camp under the watchful eyes of his instructor.
Jon is really going to have to take advantage of the Tigers order next inning. If he gets through six battling like this, then Farrell has some options. Another run or two would be huge. Even one would be huge
Wow, Jon's infield bailed him out there. Usual problems for pitchers throwing to 2nd base...Drew bailed him out there and then Naps dug out the throw at 1st...about as tough a DP as you could think of turning.
Truth is Jon has had to battle through both of these starts. He needs to find something here though. Just can't get so fine with hitters that they get on a walk-a-thon
Two strikes does force you to think more about covering the whole zone. That was actually a pretty good two strike pitch. Problem the Sox had with game 1 is that they played the whole game like they had two strikes as soon as they stepped into the batters box.
Both Drews are/were pretty good ballplayers. JD was never very exciting nor excitable and suffered from hang nail disease but was really a very good player when he was out on the field. Stephen was a hell of a SS before his ankle injury and so far has just not been the same since. JD was probably the better player.
