  1. Good AB mitch.
  2. Would be nice if the NESN crew actually just called the GD game. They are not talented enough for all this other horse dung.
  3. Eddie can throw other pitches. Maybe has more variety to offer this year than ever. But what we see from behind the pitcher looks way worse from the catcher's perspective. If the pitcher can not hit his spots with his FB and can't even throw it out of the same motion consistently, the catcher is going to keep throwing down #1 until the pitcher proves he can at least throw two of them in a row. Eddie cannot be that awful in the first frame.
  4. Cora has gone to the clubhouse to upchuck.
  5. Wow....just wow.
  6. Did eddie warm up before this game or did he just get out of the cab and walk to the mound.
  7. Perez is going to deposit one of these over the monster.
  8. I can see this is likely a night where eddie is just going to torque me off
  9. They all are dangerous positions really: Left Field has the Monster and the foul line grandstands that are right on top of you before you know it. No warning track to the fielder's right side and there is a tendency to be running full tilt and suddenly there it is. Center Field has the triangle made by the bullpens and that brutal pipe that goes across the top of the bullpen wall...no give at all when you run into that thing. Right field has all that acreage but that is only part of the story out there. The RF wall going from a spot about 20' from the flagpole to the bullpens is an optical illusion. You think it is getting deeper because of the arc of the wall but in fact the deepest part is that spot 20' from the flagpole and the distance from home plate is narrowing down every lateral foot out toward CF. So a quick glance tells you to get on your horse and run full tilt and before you know it BANG you are hitting either the wall or the visitors bullpen and that brutal pipe again. Then again there is also something of the LF foul line issue of having no room between the foul line and the RF grandstands. No question it is the most physically dangerous OF in all baseball. You need good outfielders just to survive out there, never mind make plays.
  10. There is no question that the Sox needed another big bat in this lineup. But if Cora keeps playing JD in the Fenway Park OF it is only a matter of time before JD gets Swiharted out there (meaning a less than adequate fielder put into what is likely the most physically dangerous OF in all baseball, our beloved Fenway Park OF). When that happens, that big bat will be stuck in rehab for God only knows how long. Play JD in the field away from Fenway if you must. At least away from Fenway you just take a hit to your overall defense. You don't take the hit to your defense and run the additional physical risk presented by the Fenway OF. Honestly JD looks like a dead man walking out there. More aptly put, he looks like Nunny looks around 2nd base. But at least away from Fenway there is way less chance of JD running smack into an injury. DH JD in Fenway and play him in the field away from Fenway a few games per road trip.
  11. One thing for certain.....If you really want a laugh, go early enough to a game to watch the pre-game workouts. Stretching...I am not sure a single muscle gets stretched during those things. Running....what should be a slow jog working up to at least one solid run at the end usually works out to be a barely moving jog at the end. If you pulled one of their legs out to an actual stretch, I think you could snap the thing off. Let just say it is light and leave it at that. Too much just sitting in the dugout also during the game interspersed with trips down to the buffet in the clubhouse. David Ortiz did it right for what was really an entire career. But I will bet money that many of his teammates looked at David like he had four heads.
  12. Thanks...so is Holt more pull than strain if you know? I thought they already had room for X. But Lin is probably the extra body at the moment. Teams are carrying too many pitchers. To be this strapped by the 25 man is ridiculous.
  13. Nice job Red!!!! I wish I knew more about what the heck the Sox are doing with these injuries. Even if Mookie comes back, if Holts injury is more pull than strain they have to DL him and get a body in here.
  14. God forbid the opponent should put the ball in play
  15. Nicely done Rafi
  16. Anybody know if they have announced Holt and Mookie as pulls vs strains or any announcement at all? If one of those is a pull, then they have to put him on the DL and get a player up here. This team is too strapped for defensive playing like this.
  17. That was smart by Sandy. I think if he got into a count, he would have just made out.
  18. They would be calling an ambulance for JD right now if he had to make that play.
  19. Too many basic plays elude us in this alignment. They can make some spectacular plays because they have been playing this game their whole lives. But when you can't make basic plays you are a bad defender.
  20. This right here is currently an awful defensive team. Beni is not a CFer. JD is not any sort of fielder. Nunny is not a 2nd baseman. Devers has got a long way to go to be a 3rd baseman and Lin while better defensively than most of the sludge we are tossing out there lately is ....well.....our backup. Moreland can't make every play but based on this alignment, you would think that is what we expect.
  21. Nice stab JD. On this team Swihart could be a defensive sub in the outfield for JD.
  22. Gotta' give Porcello credit. Has completely reinvented his sequencing and the way he pitches since coming over from Detroit (apparently he knew something about his sinker that we did not know). Won a Cy that people tend to treat as some sort of fluke. Surrounded by all these big names and right now he is the best we have got as a starter.
  23. Of Course, Cash was right. Nunny can't be part of a successful DP playing 2nd.
  24. Oh look, we finally saw a play nunny can make at 2nd. Cash challenging. He can't believe nunny was part of a successful DP either.
