  1. On ESPN deportes are saying that Lester will pick up Boston if Cub's ofer is close to the Red Sox. I'm not sure what "close" mean, but seems like Boston at least has the edge. We'll se though.
  2. My initial idea was sign Lester and Shields and trade/sign for a mid-rotation arm, and DO NOT TRADE anyone "talented". We have the money and chips to get it done.
  3. Not sure what "few years" mean to you, 2?, 3?... I think they need to show something substantial in 2015 like making the POs or something otherwise probably Theo will be in trouble. Either way, hopefully Theo doesn't eat Ben's lunch.
  4. it's still early, but this team has struggled a lot assembling solid pitching staffs in the recent years. Thanks God, out there are plenty of options... hopefully they get it done this year.
  5. right now... what would be your take it or leave it offer? 220? 250? or you just wait... what would be your approach with Scherzer if you were Ben?
  6. Well, a 200 M offer right now to Scherzer, makes more sense than that 70 M offer to Lester few months ago.
  7. mmm... IMO Lester is going to set the market value... since he hasn't signed.. A 200 M offer right now could make sense to me. on the other If he signs after Lester, I expect he asks for more, of course.... What is the number you have in mind if a team wants to sign Scherzer?
  8. haha i don't get it mvp. You mean he wouldn't take it?
  9. I would make him right now a 200 M take-it-or-leave-it offer.
  10. Unless we have an ace in the farm near to debut, which I doubt it, we have to make us to the idea that we have to compromise 50 + M every year from now for at least 2 solid SPs. I'm tired of this pitching issue. This is the BOS Red Sox we are talking about, not the KCR... So JH surely will overpay if he hits the FA, but every offseason is always the same with big fish FAs anyway, we must get used to that.
  11. Hi Fred, how are you? Hoping everything is doing right with you my friend. The way I see the thing is... You have Betts and Castillo, who are unproven at MLB level. I would go slow with them. Then you have two injury-prone players in Victorino and Hanley. Also, I'm crossing fingers and hoping that Xander and Craig do not underperform again. All I'm saying is that Cespedes could help you a lot if something goes wrong. On the other hand, if we can get a legit and solid arm no named Leake, Porcello or Latos, use a package around Cespedes to bring that arm. We'll see how this ends up though. If we do not sign Lester, they will push for Shields aggressively IMO, and probably will try to trade for Hamels or Cueto. In the end we need at least 2 legit 1st-tier arms to get it done, otherwise we will suffer again with our pitching next season.
  12. Exactly! We have plenty of #3,4,5. We need an ace and a 1st-tier pitcher like Shields.
  13. I know those names will cost Cespedes+. I just don't want to see a pitcher like Leake, Latos or Porcello around here and giving Cespedes for one of them. I prefer keeping Cespedes all the time.
  14. Cespedes for Porcello?, please pass. Other no named Hamels, Cueto or Price... Pass.
  15. Also you have Castillo, Betts, Nava, Craig if somebody underperform or get injured AND put pressure in your titular Lup.
  16. With Cespedes around this lineup would be pure TNT. Hopefully they get the SPs via FA.
  17. Ha, I'm not comparing nobody. My point is, keep Cespedes even with Panda and HR aboard.
  18. We need at least 2 arms of the pitchers you named.
  19. This, even with Panda and HR aboard.
  20. They already signed two of the best FA available to strength the offense. You just can't go half of the way, they need to address the pitching, si o si. Would be dumb not doing that NOW. Pitching was and is the main problem in this team in the first place. Also, one arm is not enough. We need at least 2 AND SOLID.
  21. Totally agree. It's time to have a solid rotation whatever it takes. I'm tired of watching busts on the mound in the recent years. I wouldn't hesitate bringing Lester and Scherzer if they really want to win it all in the coming years.
  22. This is exactly what I was thinking. JH will regret either way if he signs somewhere else or ends up paying 150+ M. Plus, they need another solid arm.
  23. Hanley Pedroia Ortiz Cespedes Panda Napoli Victorino Vazquez XB
  24. I like what Victorino is saying about his actual physical shape... Seems like he will be in great shape next season.
  25. I don't see a spot for Nava if Cespedes stays. Somehow, Nava has some value which could be used to bring an arm in a package.
