  1. This what I call an ace performance. We have to win this. Their ace is not pitching anymore. Their BP shouldn't be an issue. Also, Price could easily pitch another inning and set the table to Kimbrel.
  2. Price's pitch count is at what? 54? at these pace he could go all the way.
  3. ...and just like that the lead is gone.
  4. The last numbers I have in mind are that he is OPSing something around 800? Didn't see that coming.
  5. As I said, It is fair to say that most of us think/thought that Shields is/was better than Porcello --included U?--, otherwise why would we want him if he is/was worse? It simply doesn't make sense to land Shields if he is/was worse than Porcello. Of course, Shields is a bet. He is getting older but his last 3 years and his starts before SEA suggested the he could be a safe bet. On the other hand, after his start vs SEA and tonight against WSN, can we say that he is already done? or these two starts were just bad days? IDK but honestly I do not care because he is not an option for our team.
  6. If he was worse than Porcello why did you want him in Red Sox uniform? Also, the point was that he was way better before his start against SEA. As always you don't like to see the facts.
  7. We are going to win this. The pitching matchup is tie, but we have way better offense. Go Sox!
  8. As I said, while I was talking about Porcello -- who is in our team-- somehow U? brought him. Go figure.
  9. The argument behind the discussion was that he was pitching really good and way better than Porcello before his last start against SEA. He was at that moment a 3.0 ERA pitcher. On the other hand do you really want to keep beating this dead horse? James Shields is not available anymore. We need another pitcher. I was suggesting a guy like Zimmermann or Teheran.
  10. LOL! James Shields is the least of my concerns. He will never wear the Red Sox uniform. It came up because U? brought him to the table. Also, I think that most of us wanted him for a reasonable price, included your boy U?. On the other hand, who worries me is Rick Porcello, he is going to be around here for a while.
  11. The problem is that our starting pitching staff has been a bad one. It is 4.72 ERA as a unit. 21 out of 30 in all baseball. You won't go anywhere with those numbers in POs. On the other hand Kelly and Buchh won't hurt this team anymore.
  12. Which facts? What good argument? There's no way that Porcello was/has been/is better than Shields.
  13. A Sober CC pitches way better than Porcello.
  14. His K/BB by Month. April 6 May 2.88 Yeah he is not walking too much people but I expect a regression here. He is a 5.9 K/9 and 2.15 BB/9. Also He is not a 15% HR/FB% but his career is at 12%.... That's what worries me. If you put those career numbers in a mixer, you will likely have a 4.5 ERA pitcher.
  15. HRs are the key issue this year for him. He is not a better pitcher for this. His HR/FB% is at 15.4% That's insane.
  16. Also his k/9 and BB/9 has regressed significantly since April.
  17. As I salid early, his K/BB and other metrics will be meaningless if he can't keep the ball in the field. That's the key. If he can make the adjustments and keep the ball inside the field he will be ok, otherwise expect to see a 2015 Porcello again moving forward, mostly because we still have a bunch of games against ALE teams.
  18. If Shields is declining, what can we say regarding Porcello? Is he in his prime or in decline? I'm confused. LOL!
  19. As I said, one of the worst --- but to me the worst I saw last year.
  20. Porcello was arguably one of the worst pitchers in baseball. Shields was not in that category by any means.
  21. Father time hasn't knocked his door yet. His run prevention estimators in the last 3 years have been solid. His SIERA and xfip in 2013, 2014 and 2015 are where -- if not better-- his career numbers say. Also the Ks still there. Not sure what you are talking about.
  22. You don't have to look at sabermetrics. You don't even need to look at basic stats. Porcello was one of the worst pitchers in 2015 in all baseball --- if not the worst. It's not even debatable. Even a 10 YO kid can realize that.
  23. Nope. Shields has been consistent in 2016. Porcello hasn't. Shields has had only one bad start. Before that bad start --which was his last one -- he had been a 3.0 ERA pitcher. Also, Shields was better in 2013, 2014 and 2015. What are you talking about?
  24. He would've been a better bet. If Porcello wants to succeed in Boston, he needs to keep the ball in the park like in 2014 --HR/FB% 9%--. The problem is that his career HR/FB% is at 12% and keep growing.
