  1. Is this the Jays version of Mortenson??
  2. http://stream1.gifsoup.com/view/27381/oh-no-we-suck-again-o.gif
  3. Oh good the wave is going on at Fenway during a crucial at bat in the midst of a 1-6 run.
  4. Pedey about to do some major damage.
  5. Now this is just absolutely infuriating. This game should be 8-0.
  6. This offense is nothing short of infuriating to watch.
  7. See: Keith Foulke
  8. sorry man. I couldn't leave it alone. And those were just names off the top of my head. I didn't even mention (ear muffs) Bobby Jenks, who had good success from 06-10, and we all know how that ended.
  9. Heath Bell: 2007-2011 - 134 saves, 2.53 era Jose Valverde: 07-11 - 191 saves, 2.91 era Francisco Cordero 07-11 - 194 saves, 2.97 era Joakim Soria 07-10 - 132 saves, 2.01 era Papelbon 07-11 - 184 saves, 2.40 era Heath Bell 2012: 19 saves, 5.09 era Jose Valverde 2012: 35 saves, 3.78 era Francisco Cordero 2012: 2 saves, 7.55 era Joakim Soria 2011: 28 saves, 4.03 era All of these pitchers had solid track records of success reaching 4-5 years back with very solid ERA's and saves. And they all completely blew up a year later. Relief pitchers, especially closers, are a complete crapshoot.
  10. I still think that Webster will be up here to take Doubronts slot before the end of the month. I also wonder if the Sox look to move early on a guy like Bud Norris or a larger move like Cliff Lee. We cannot be burning out the bullpen with Doubront as the 5th starter.
  11. Like you said yesterday, I was really impressed with Middlebrooks at bat in the 8th, fouling off pitches and working the count. But.....then I looked at the pitch graph, and while he certainly did a great job of working the count, boy did he foul off some pitches that should have landed on the Mass Pike. http://www.brooksbaseball.net/pfxVB/cache/location.php-pitchSel=454537&game=gid_2013_05_09_minmlb_bosmlb_1&batterX=66&innings=yyyyyyyyy&sp_type=1&s_type=3.gif Those pitches are middle middle. Hopefully he's seeing the ball better, and those pitches will turn into extra base hits. We need it from somewhere.
  12. The bad news: I left Boston last Saturday morning, and since I left, the Sox have gone 1-5. The good news: I'm back! SoxFanForsyth in Boston Mojo: 20-9.
  13. Well, we got Ramon Ortiz vs Jon Lester, then Buehrle vs Buch, then Morrow vs Dempster. So, on paper, I really really like all 3 of these match ups. Hopefully the sox tighten up and start playing sharper. Wouldn't surprise me at all to see these guys go something like 7-2 in their next 9. Hope they get back in track.
  14. Lackey actually threw a very good game tonight. Defense was just atrocious. So far our top 4 have been outstanding: Lester: 3.30 ERA Buch: 1.60 ERA Dempster: 2.93 ERA Lackey: 2.82 ERA I still think Webby is a better starter than Doubront, too.
  15. Gotta love beating yourself.
  16. Well, at least we have the top of the order coming up. What a gruesome stretch of games. All aspects of the game have just absolutely crapped the bed lately.
  17. Considering how bad Hanrahan has been, it really isn't. Can't confuse a name with production. If someone named Johnson put up Hanrahan's numbers, we would all be pumped that a kid with 3 ER in 17 IP and a strikeout an inning was coming up from AAA
  18. Probably not. I haven't seen him roll his eyes and tilt his head back and state at the sky when he gets rung up on a middle middle fastball that he thinks is off the corner.
  19. This one is on Wed Night baseball on ESPN. Wife's birthday is today. So, wife bday mojo? Lets go!!!
  20. http://fullcount.weei.com/sports/boston/baseball/red-sox/2013/05/08/red-sox-minor-league-roundup-garin-cecchini-continues-clinic-sox-best-3b-depth-option-why-anthony-ranaudos-struggles-highlight-success-the-riddle-of-mookie-betts/ He's certainly played there enough to justify bringing him up if WMB hits the DL. Nobody is saying he's going to take over, but he is certainly a more than adequate temp replacement. Sounds an awful lot like Youkilis to me, no?
  21. Which is why I think they'll go with Snyder. That's what I said when I said "if they're going to be aggressive with a player, it will be Bogaerts"
  22. Not to mention the Carolina league really suppresses power, so the fact that he is hitting bombs there is a bigger deal than other leagues. I still think he gets packaged in a deal for a big stick. Still wouldn't surprise me if the Sox put together a package for Stanton.
  23. He's never played there before, and while he is an outstanding glove, you're getting virtually nothing w the bat. This team has scored 10 runs in the last 5 games. You need a stick at 3B
  24. It was Bogaerts that played 3B, not Iggy. Bogaerts played there to get ready for the WBC, which is where he played during the tournament. The Orioles did the same thing with Machado last year, brought him up and stuck him at 3B. If Middlebrooks hits the DL, I still think Snyder gets the call but it wouldn't surprise me if Bogaerts got a cup of coffee.
