  1. Why the heck isn't Taz in right now again?!?
  2. Taz should be facing Reynolds
  3. Kazmir was getting that call off the plate all freaking day and Lester hasn't gotten it once. Absolutely ridiculous.
  4. Shaw is not even looking at Ellsbury.
  5. Come on Pedey give Lester a chance for the W!!
  6. Carp better hit here. Edit: didn't know Hill was up. Give me Gomes vs Shaw over any lefty vs Hill.
  7. Iggy and Ciriaco doing some damage!!!
  8. Iggy w 3 knocks. Just like we drew it up.
  9. Goodness he's borderline Ichiro'ing this ball.
  10. 3 runs isn't going to win this game.
  11. .212 BABIP vs career .343 BABIP, that at least starts to tell the story. Line drive rate is significantly down, 16.1% this year vs career 22.5%, and his ground balls that would result in infield hits aren't happening either. 29% GB vs career 48.1% and he is hitting a ton of fly balls, 54.8% vs career 29.4%. The fact that he's hitting fewer line drives and more than doubled his FB rate would make his BABIP drop make sense.
  12. Not saying that his hips aren't flying open, but these pictures don't prove it. The pitch where his hips are flying open is an inside pitch, as shown by where the catcher is set up, vs an outside pitch at the other. Generally you clear your hips when you're turning on an inside pitch and you keep your front shoulder inside the baseball on an outside pitch.
  13. So...2011 you have a Lackey avatar the whole season while he gets destroyed. 2013, you put up Taylor Swift while Lackey is worthy of an avatar?
  14. Out a min of 4 weeks according to Girardi
  15. Franconia has a couple arms he had with the Sox in the Tribe pen
  16. Fangraphs has live updates now. It's really nice
  17. Rich Hills slider moves about 6 feet it seems
  18. I think you're letting your pessimism run wild a bit. I think the likliest scenario is that one reaches his potential, one fizzles out completely, and one reaches about 70-80% of his potential, which would be a back end starter or a very good reliever.
  19. Plus missing his side session because he threw nearly 130 pitches last outing really hurt him. Couldn't work on his mechanics at all. Missing up is generally a sign of your legs being in front of your arm in terms of mechanics, or lower back problems in terms of injury. Not sure which (if either) it is, but he's missing up. A lot.
  20. He may regress to that point eventually, but he's clearly throwing the ball well right now, and has been this entire season thus far. Dempster has had zero command in 4 of his past 5 starts now (3 of past 4 going into last night). He clearly has some mechanical issues to work through and missed his side because of a high pitch count in his last outing, so he couldn't work on anything. You're certainly wrong here.
  21. Last night was certainly a pitching matchup in favor of the Tribe. When we went into this series, I was hoping we could steal one of the first two (Masterson goes tonight against Lackey) because I felt (and still feel) very confident in the Sox in the final 2 games of the series (Lester vs Kazmir, 6.35 ERA and Doubie vs Kluber, 5.19 ERA). Tonight's game isn't as big of a mismatch as last night. Last night was the Tribe's version of Lester vs Kazmir (who will now inevitably shut us down). Squeak one out tonight and then take the games tomorrow and Sunday.
  22. Couple things - First - he threw 76.33 IP last year, which was his career high. You're supposed to bump by ~30% to avoid risk of injury, so that would put him at around 100 IP this year (99.33 IP to be exact). Second - he likely won't be back until early to mid June, so he could be inserted into the rotation and give the Sox ~15 starts before he runs into an innings limit. Or, more likely, he throws about 35-40 IP out of the pen in long relief (adios, Mortensen), and picks up about 10 spot starts for DL stints and the such.
  23. What are we doing here?!?!? How many times are we going to take strike three down the middle?!?
  24. Middlebrooks is getting ripped tonight by the ump.
