  1. He's had it since Opening Day, but he's played every single game and has performed at an MVP level at that. This just came out today. http://bostonherald.com/sports/red_sox_mlb/boston_red_sox/2013/05/dustin_pedroia_toughs_it_out_despite_injured_thumb By the way, Pedey's current slash line is .332/.422/.444. With a torn UCL. He's got a 136 wRC+ and a .382 wOBA. Compare that to Cano's 132 wRC+ and .372 wOBA. And Pedroia is doing it with a torn UCL. It's nothing short of amazing getting to watch this kid play on a daily basis. He's one of the few throwback players that even guys like a700 appreciates. Certainly a player that I will be telling my son about one day.
  2. When I was looking at the 4 game series, this was the only game where I was like "eh, probably not gonna win this one". With a revived Lackey and Lester going the next two days, I expect a sweep in Philly. Not pumped about having Doubie and Demp throw against the Yankees, but one of them will be facing Hughes so that should help out.
  3. Ells and Pedey can turn this offense from anemic to explosive it seems.
  4. Iglesias isn't going to be a bench player who plays once every 10 days. He's back in Pawtucket when WMB comes back.
  5. No way man. If the Sox acquire Callaspo, you replace Ciriaco. Carp has a ton of upside. He's still pretty young (27) and is one injured season off of a very solid year.
  6. Cool little stat - The Sox are 32-20 right now, 12 games over .500 in the first 52 games and on pace for 100 wins. To reach 90 wins, they just have to play 6 games over .500 for the remainder of the season, a .527 W% and a 85 win pace. They've put themselves in a very very good position to be able to absorb a bit of a losing streak and still be contending.
  7. I think today is the day that Dempster returns to form. Although, I think it would be really smart to start Buch today if he can, and then bump everyone back. Not only does that get Dempster the start in Philly rather than in Boston, where he'd get the pitcher rather than the DH, but it also bumps Lester from Thursday vs PHI to Friday vs NYY, and it lines Buch up for the Sunday night start in NY.
  8. Bradley watch: After yesterday's game, he's hitting .360/.461/.547. That's a 1.008 OPS. Just to be clear, he hit .359/.480/.526 in A+ last season and everyone thought it was because he was playing against too weak of competition. Well, now he's in AAA and he's smoking the ball everywhere. This kid is going to be special.
  9. My guess is that they option Aceves or DFA Mort, and then when the Sox head to Philly, option Wilson and call up Bradley. Right now they are rolling with 8 relievers because when WMB and Vic went down, they called up Aceves and Iggy.
  10. BOO YAH!!!!! Your first place Boston Red Sox
  11. It's a 2 run game that feels like an 8 run game
  12. Bradley 2/3 with a walk, 2B, and HR tonight. Ho hum. Hitting .365 on the year with a .466 OBP. He ready.
  13. Man Pedroia is a ridiculous defender
  14. Hey, see everyone?? I told you this team can't hit soft throwers!!
  15. We should destroy this guy. He doesnt throw hard and he is having control issue
  16. Yup. I think we've been on the same page on this all along
  17. My head is spinning. How did they screw themselves?!? They are 31-20, a 98 win pace. Why are you looking to sell?!? How do 1 year deals screw us when we are contenders?!? How is a 13mm deal for Victorino who saves tons of runs a bad signing? Dempsters mechanics are messed up but he has shown he can absolutely compete. This post is just a bunch of nothingness.
  18. I am wondering if they will have Nap catch at least one of the games to keep him in the lineup. Who knows, in all likelihood they will split it though. I do think they will call up Bradley tomorrow and option Aceves. We need another OF that can play defense.
  19. Oh no, don't pull an Adam Dunn again. Don't jinx us again!!!
  20. Yup. Best thing about stats. They're unbiased.
  21. This is surprising to me. I remember getting dominated by Jurrjens, Freddy Garcia, Dempster, Vargas, and tons of ther soft throwers over the past couple of years.
