  1. It's when you bend her over and show her the 50 states.
  2. $325 mil buys a lot of Band Aids.
  3. ikr? he was asked if he is embarrassed to make more in a day than a lot of Americans make in a year, which is kinda unfair to single him out in the embarrassment of riches that is American major professional sports, but sometimes you have to wonder at the economics of it all. Is it one giant bubble that is unsustainable? Doesn't seem to be so far....
  4. Still doesn't justify the contract. It's just....absurd.
  5. Again, I'm framing this in the context of the Marlins who insisted on no no-trade clauses to Beurhle and Reyes and dumped them one year later. What the hell changed for them to offer this? I understand wanting to keep a guy, and I know he's a good player. But still...
  6. Good luck insuring a 13 year contract for $325 mil. The last I heard - and this was a long time ago and about pitchers - teams couldn't get insurance past a certain number of years. Maybe that's changed. Can we instead talk about why is this contract thirteen years? Where was the need? Was he really going to get ten elsewhere? Maybe, but he isn't even a FA yet. Backloading the deal is stupid if he doesn't opt out, they are gonna be f***ed. I look and look and still can't see the benefit in this contract for the Marlins (knowing their history as far as spending goes).
  7. Not sure I understand the Heyward trade for the Cardinals since he's a FA after next season - unless they feel sure they can sign him to an extension. Miller might be overrated but he's still cost controlled for a few seasons. I guess the Cardinals have the pitching depth to spare though.
  8. I would have told them to get f***ed if it didnt after what happened to Jose Reyes et al.
  9. http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mlb-big-league-stew/tigers-trade-newly-named-no--1-prospect-devon-travis-to-blue-jays-052601164.html Toronto wins this trade.
  10. Sondergaard or whatever his name is, but may be untouchable. But then again, who knows.
  11. Nothing much more frustrating that totally preventable deaths.
  12. Tavares was five times over the legal blood alcohol limit. Smh.
  13. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/marlins-could-offer-giancarlo-stanton--250m--but-is-that-reason-to-stay-000306309.html Well here was my good laugh for the day. Marlins might offer Giancarlo $250 mil? With Jeffrey Chuckles at the helm? I don't think so! Not only would it be bad for him, what's that leave them to put players around him? Everything we've seen so far makes longterm big spending very dubious. Needless to say, investing that kind of money in any player is very stupid.
  14. Allen Webster should not be confused for a major league pitcher. He's s***.
  15. No it isn't.
  16. Who's Alex Webster, and is he any better than Allen Webster?
  17. I don't want to trade for Stanton, we'd open more holes than we close.
  18. I've resigned myself to the possibility of the Giants winning. I'll be sad if KC doesn't, but it's not like I was emotionally invested in them before they made the playoffs.
  19. Not sure why anyone would sign with the Cubs unless they are into money so much that they don't care about playoffs and titles. That franchise is a shitshow.
  20. oh my God, it comes down to one game for all the marbles. I was checking the score last night and even at 8-0 I didn't feel safe, running through my mind was the possibility of today's headlines being "one of the biggest collapses in postseason history..."
  21. He might never see another World Series.
  22. What's that you say? UNC staff created a BS class that student-athletes didn't even need to attend, then got inflated grades to allow them to keep their eligibility?? Pay them. (By which I mean they are employees - don't even waste everyone's time enrolling them unless they can legitimately graduate on their own merit).
  23. Another year another ws i won't be able to watch thanks to the 8pm start times.
  24. I'd like to know what due diligence was done on Cespedes if we're already looking at shoving him out the door.
