Aceves yesterday allow 3 hits on his fastball. He's a lot better suited in long relief, mixing up his pitches. He doesn't have a Bard or Papelbon swing and miss fastball to air it over 1 inning. As soon as Shoppach set up that pitch to Cabera, I knew it would be in the stand. A great hitter like that just do not miss often when they get a cookie.

The closer moniker is the most f***ing stupid s*** of any sports. God, I hate it. Bring in your best reliever of the team to get outs and you will win most of the time. Bring in marginal talents often you left scratching your heads. We got two marginal talents trying to get the final outs today. It's not because they're not "closers", they're just not very good. -
He walk 5 batters last year after the trade. That's very good.

I just want a shut down reliever (like Bard) with dominant stuff at the end of games. And the rest will fall into place.

Aceves is not a closer you would trust. Hits batter, and uninspiring K/9 numbers. Same with Malencon. They could close for a team like the Astros or Padres. Just not here.
