  1. BIG strikeout from Okajima, and Delcarmen is now in.
  2. And he says he wants to play 2-3 more years in the mlb.
  3. Its funny, after you said that, he gets a hit, and they mention he's the offensive player of the week.
  4. Beltre....What happened to you?
  5. The problem with that argument is that good pitchers still do get significantly more attendance than bad pitchers. Remember when Manny went to the dodgers, and attendance increased about 4000 a game? And that's every game, not 1 in 5.
  6. 'just give Papi time, he'll be back. Remember what he did in 2009? See what I did there? Papi has the potential to be monstrous again. Maybe his reflexives have dulled, but he hasn't lost bat speed or power. If they replace him with some minor leaguer who could come in and hit .200 right now, is that worth throwing away his potential for a below average hitter? Ortiz has until Ellsbury and Cameron return to get his s*** together, but after that, his roster spot is free for the taking.
  7. Some good predictions in there. I would be surprised if Pedroia hits 20+ bombs-- he's slowed down a ton lately, and he's just not built for it. And I see the extra rest being very good for Varitek.
  8. Dunn is a poor defender in the national league. He's playing on the nationals, who not only will be out of the playoffs by the deadline, but will probably looking for some prospects for Dunn, who is on his last year of his contract. He also costs 1/5th of the Nationals total salary. Dunn would prefer playing on a contender. A-gon for the Padres is half the price, a hometown favorite and local native, plus he has another full season after this one, actually hits for average, and has more long term appeal. San Diego has said multiple time that they won't trade him unless blown out of the water, which isn't quite the case with the Nationals.
  9. Why? He's about 10x more realistic a target than A-gon.
  10. Adam Dunn also hits right handers extremely well, which helps a ton.
  11. Random question to the mods-- is it supposed to stretch out the box of the user if their username is too long like that? It is kind of giving me a headache.
  12. The problem is that after having such a great april, the Sox have to get through a ton of great teams, and if he has two or three bad games, he could very easily fall again. That being said, this is his time to have a huge breakout year, and I fully expect it from him if he can stay cool and confident.
  13. Latest reports say mid-May for Cameron, probably a bit later for Ellsbury. The schedule doesn't peak (@Phillies/@Rays/@Yankees) till the 17th. They've been making the best of righty/lefty matchups, and this week of garbage opponents hopefully will stabilize this team that was drowning for a while there.
  14. The question is-- which bullpen will blow it?
  15. Call it a hunch, but I'd say the Sox's private metrics include park-specific factors in their hundred year old stadium.
  16. Exactly. That's how bad Providence's teams have been.
  17. John McDonald went to Providence College? those are my old stomping grounds. Extremely surprised to hear of any athlete that has had professional success, considering how bad most of their teams have been lately.
  18. McDonald looks like he's out of magic. Its a good thing Cameron should be back in a week or two.
  19. Four strikeouts through 2 innings!
  20. Mlb tv immediately puts up blacked out games immediately after finished. Sure, you can't watch them as they're going on, but a three hour delay is not horrible.
