  1. BOSOX2011, Welcome to Talksox:D
  2. Yeah, I read it again, and it still looks like you're trolling. Claiming a prospect will be a great major leaguer is very different than claiming guys that have pretty much proven themselves will be great major leaguers.
  3. I find it hard to feel negative about mediocre prospect rankings when the Sox have so many positions filled for several years. With the exception of catcher, they really don't have any holes to fill for two years. Bard replaces Papelbon, Kalish replaces Drew.
  4. I would rather have a guy with one year of potential roadblocks to become an ace over a guy with several years of potential roadblocks. Hellickson is the real deal. Prospects are prospects.
  5. I'd rather play the AL West than the AL Central. The American League is pretty strong all-around this year-- every division has 3 strong teams.
  6. Err, what? Heymann has been wrong all year. He's made premature reports because he has wanted to be the first to report things, and half the time he hasn't done his research first. ie, A-gon, Cliff Lee.
  7. Its only matter of time before Rivera declines enough to be considered only an elite-level closer. Strange... that sounded like a taunt in my head.
  8. Any excessive criticism on Lackey is just silly. He's not an ace. Oh well. He was 8th in QS, 15th in WAR, 8th in IP. That kind of consistency for a #3/#4 starter on an elite hitting team wins ball games.
  9. I bet they can get the record. That's what happens when your best player leaves for Miami-- losing Big Z was the worst thing that could have happned to this team.
  10. I blame Cleveland's failures on their inability to resign Big Z.
  11. I wouldn't put it past Hughes to be a serviceable #2. Maybe you don't remember it, but the three elite pitchers at the beginning of 2010 were Price, Buchholz and Hughes-- Hughes was having an amazing first half. He's still young, and he has a good chance to figure it out. That being said, I'd take Buchholz over him any day of the week.
  12. I think Red Sox starters simply have better ceilings than the Yankee starters. I also see age being a very significant factor moving forward as Sox players move towards their primes, and Yankees move away from them.
  13. Oh? I wonder where I was that day, I'm usually well-informed.
  14. So Pettite is working out? That's a surprising development.
  15. Are we really arguing that the Yankees wouldn't have enough money?
  16. I'd be more than happy to see Lowrie play an average 120 game Drew season. Honestly, I still stand by the belief that he's better off as a utility player. But when the playoffs come, he's who I want at SS.
  17. Nowhere in this does this mention a legitimate injury concern. He's going to be tired after having mono, an illness that makes you tired.
  18. Where did I say a single negative thing about Scutaro? Go find the old post "Who are your favorite Red Sox players" and you will find Scutaro at the top of my list. One of the reasons why I like Lowrie so much is how he fought through the wrist injury in 2008. His results didn't end up all that great, but I got the impression that he had grit, but in the end it made his injury far worse. Not entirely sure what point you're trying to make with the WAR.
  19. If you made out with a chick who has Mono, because you're a baseball player your immune system should make you completely invulnerable to it? Come on, that's just silly. He's had a ton of bad luck-- it happens. And seriously, how many players actually play 160 games per season? 137 is close enough. That podcast was hidden in the middle of your page-long rant to Dojji--which I mostly ignored. Maybe we're both listening for different things, but it sounded more like they were concerned that his body wasn't conditioned well enough because he hadn't played a full season of baseball in two years. They mentioned that Lowrie was tired-- as in, the symptom of Mono. I listened to it twice, and it definitely sounded like they were concerned with how his body would handle professional baseball again-- not with any lasting effects of recurring injury.
  20. He played 134 games in 2008, and 157 games in 2007, in his leagues combined. The only year he was severely limited because of baseball-related injuries was 2009. Are you really so daft to believe one bad year makes him a softy?
