  1. I wonder if I could get into their graduate program...
  2. That's ridiculous. SoxFanForsyth, have I mentioned that you're my favorite Talksox poster?
  3. When Scal retires, instead of picking 12 people to go into the hall of fame, they'll devote the entire ceremony to him.
  4. Pedroia's life hit into a brickwall in 2009, with his brother's garbage, and a lot of other personal issues. s*** happens. He lost his 2010 from getting hit in the foot with a ball, not because he's injury prone.
  5. Catching depth is weak in the majors, but I really don't see Varitek getting in before Pudge, Mauer, McCann, Posada etc. Unless he catches two more no-hitters, I don't see it happening.
  6. I think its all in Ortiz's head. Now that he has leeway, it probably won't happen.
  7. Hardware tends to help out candidates. Pedroia has the most so far, and its early into his career.
  8. If this was a poll, Julio Lugo would be my answer.
  9. I still don't see the Twins trading him right now. Why trade a cheap #1/2 pitcher for a mediocre reliever with a messed up development like Joba? They've been to the playoffs how many of the last ten years, and that division only got better. The Cardinals are just as desperate, and more willing to give up prospects.
  10. Honestly, I think pitchers will more likely get hurt by heat exhaustion while wearing a helmet than getting hit by a grounder. And it really will get in the way of pitching.
  11. Nice quote from Boston.com today : "Today's crowd: 6,937 (sellout). Median age: 75.4. "
  12. Beckett hit in the head by a pop-up. He seems to be okay. Still, an injured Beckett is still scary.
  13. Talksox has had a lot of mixed opinions about it. I think that lineup is probably for the best, although I'm not exactly sure what to do about the #6 spot.
  14. Nah, just the Yours is capped.
  15. Sounds like they plan on using Ellsbury/Pedroia/Crawford as their top 3 hitters today. A sign of things to come?
  16. Has anyone ever told either of you guys that you have have incredibly confusing usernames?
  17. Do you remember the Leon Powe special during the 2008 Finals? About how his father left them when he was two, and his family was homeless, and kept moving around? Turns out, he was named after his father, and is "Leon Powe Jr.". Strangely enough, he named his son Leon Powe the third. I find that incredibly strange.
  18. He has two full cost-controlled years ahead of him. The Yankees might want him, but what team doesn't want a quality pitcher with good upside at low cost? This is a guy that started a game #1 in the post season 4 months ago. He's not going to go for middle end prospects. It went completely under the radar in 2010, but the Yankees traded several cost controlled years of Kennedy/Jackson last year for players that both respectively had lower WAR values. I honestly don't think the Yankees want to overpay again, even if that means a bridge year.
  19. Grrr... this isn't on Boston cable, is it?
  20. FACT: The Celtics have not won a NBA Finals since Scal left.
  21. I said wikipedia said it, but I never said it was true haha. I was more excited about the prospect about getting him back, no idea if he'll actually end up being back with the Celtics, but it seems like too perfect a scenario in the Cleveland deal.
  22. Even so, Crawford is far better off hitting before the sluggers than Salty.
  23. LEON POWE!!!!! Holy awesomesauce batman! Easily my favorite bench player of all time. Wikipedia says he is already on the Celtics again.
  24. John Stockton? He's about as white as you can get.
  25. I think Ells/Craw at 9-1 is the best way to start the season. Crawford hits directly after an OBP guy who can double-steal with him, and it doesn't leave them too vulnerable to LOOGYs. If Ellsbury gets back to form though-- he'll be getting closer to his prime, and he might end up being just too damn good to bat 9th. Or he'll get injured again, and we don't have to worry about it.
