  1. In all fairness, it depends on what kind of instrument you play. Guitar? About equal footing. Piano? Slightly above. Mandolin? Mad success. Percussion? Ha-ha, no.
  2. The problem is that you aren't looking at the big picture. This team has elite defense. It has an elite bullpen. It has three guys who will be top 5 Cy Young vote getters in either 2010 or 2011. Three guys who are seriously good pitchers, with ace status. The overall team ERA means nothing if it include Miller's 6.00 ERA, Wakefield's 5.00 ERA and Lackey's 7.00 ERA. That being said, get Ubaldo.
  3. This is misleading because of how unbalanced the Red Sox's staff is now though. The difference between Beckett/Lester and Miller/Lackey in terms of ERA is unreal.
  4. Last I heard, the Yankees won't throw in Banuelos, which really hurt trade talks.
  5. Hands down, without a doubt in my mind, Beckett. If he went down, the rotation would have looked like this when Lester was on the DL. Lackey, Wakefield, Miller, Weiland, Millwood. I know Ells/A-gon/Pedroia are having monster seasons, but lose any of those guys, and the offense is still pretty damn good. Lose Beckett, and look at that rotation.
  6. Strange that they'd mention the frog thing here. I hope when I die, my obituary won't include public insults made to me. Either way, RIP.
  7. BB is going to turn Haynesworth into a beast. It is mindblowing how good this move could turn out to be, and if it doesn't go well, they can cut him whenever they want.
  8. Is Beltran in that lineup yet?
  9. They've flown him across the country and he's seen three of the best specialists already, all of which have not found anything serious. If there is something actually wrong with him, I'm giving up with the American healthcare system and seeing a voodoo healer from now on.
  10. And shortstops with good bats are shortstops with good bats. But that hasn't kept Lowrie on the field, either.
  11. He's a sub-.200 hitter who has been consistently bad the last four months. If we wanted that, why not get Iggy's glove up here? Furcal isn't worth the roster space.
  12. In all fairness, he's still hitting .195 with the Marlins.

I wonder if Julian Tavarez has any interest in coming out of retirement.... In all seriousness, Doubront takes over in mid August, and this won't be a big deal anymore.
  14. Time and money =/= just money.
  15. Do you shop exclusively at Stop and Shop, and no other supermarkets, ever? Do you wear clothes that say Stop & Shop on them? Do you scream loudly in support when you notice how fresh the produce or meat is? Do you post on TalkStop&Shop.com ? Do you spend 20+ hours a week watching the building, and all its staff from the security monitors? Do you have an intense hatred of all Hannaford/Big Y/Price Rite stores? Has your family been devout Stop and Shop supporters for 90 years? Not a valid comparison.
  16. A good hitter can have a bad night against a bad pitcher. Why ruin his .370 average when other teams are considering Reddick?
  17. They've protected Reddick's trade value all season, why stop now so soon before the deadline?
  18. Sure, but you're also talking about moving Crawford and Quentin to unnatural positions, hurting both spots in the outfield defensively in order to accomodate the move. You're also talking about getting a guy for a few years long term who has been in the majors since 2006 and has yet to play a full season. You're also losing your number 5 starter, a ton of money, all for a guy who hit .243 and .236 the last two seasons.
